Your dog is NOT being “dramatic” in this weather…
Dogs can overheat incredibly quickly, and heatstroke can become fatal in minutes. 💔

As much as we all love adventures, walks and sunshine… some days our dogs simply need:
💦 water
🌳 shade
❄ cooling opportunities
🧠 enrichment at home
❤️ and rest

Flat-faced breeds, puppies, senior dogs, overweight dogs, bull breeds and dogs with breathing difficulties need EXTRA care in warm weather. But honestly? ANY dog can struggle when temperatures rise.

A few reminders from your local Mad Dog Lady 👀👇

🐾 If the pavement is too hot for your hand for 5 seconds… It’s too hot for paws
🐾 Skip midday walks
🐾 Never leave dogs in cars — even “for a minute”
🐾 Sniffy enrichment and short training games at home can replace long walks
🐾 Cooling mats, frozen Kongs, paddling pools and shaded rest breaks are your best friends
🐾 Watch for excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, wobbliness or vomiting

And please remember…
Heat stress has a cumulative effect.
It’s not just about ONE hot day — several warm days in a row can really take a toll on our dogs. ❤️

From excitable teenage chaos…
to calmer brains, stronger bonds, better focus, and owners who truly learned how to understand their dogs 🥹✨

PUPPY POWER just got even cuter 😭❤️🐾

Yesterday we welcomed our newest little students to the Puppy Power family and honestly… my heart is FULL 🥹✨

🐶 Ragnar the toy poodle
🐶 Sadie the cocker spaniel
🐶 Reggie the border terrier

Three completely different puppies, three different little personalities… and all absolutely AMAZING 💛

Our very first session was all about:
✨ building confidence
✨ creating calmness
✨ relationship first
✨ learning through fun
✨ and helping these babies positively understand the world 🌍🐾

There were wiggly bums, tiny zoomies, clever moments, puppy cuddles and proud humans everywhere 🥹❤️

People often think puppy training is just about “sit” and “paw”… but Puppy Power is about SO much more:
🐾 emotional wellbeing
🐾 confidence building
🐾 focus around distractions
🐾 calmness
🐾 life skills
🐾 and creating the best possible future together

And honestly? Watching puppies start to understand the world safely and happily will NEVER stop being magical to me 🥹

🐾 Skye the Cockapoo smashing her Scentwork Silver like an absolute pro! 👏✨

From learning the basics to confidently searching like a little detection dog… this girl has come SO far 💜🐶
Watching dogs grow in confidence through scent work is honestly one of my favourite things ever.

Scent work isn’t “just finding smells”… it’s:
✔ mental enrichment
✔ confidence building
✔ problem solving
✔ calm focus
✔ teamwork with your dog
✔ a healthy outlet for natural instincts

And the best part?
Dogs absolutely LOVE it 🐽✨

Skye was working so hard today and I couldn’t be prouder of her and her lovely humans 🥹👏

People often ask me:
“Can my dog do scent work?”
YES.
Nervous dogs, busy dogs, reactive dogs, puppies, older dogs… scent work is amazing for almost every dog ❤️

Who knew sniffing could create such clever happy dogs? 😍

POV: you ask your Bull Terrier to “come”…
But apparently the emotional support ball MUST come too 🤡🎾

Sparta heard:
❌ “Come here”
✅ “Collect your belongings before leaving the area”

Honestly, Bull Terriers are just tiny chaotic toddlers in dog suits 😂

But this is actually why I LOVE training through play ❤️
That ball is highly valued by her, and instead of conflict, we build engagement, fun, and connection together.

And let’s be real… if your dog ignores you but remembers the ball, at least they’ve got priorities 🤣

Drop a 🎾 if your dog also refuses to function without their favourite toy 😂👇

Day off?
Apparently Sparta didn’t get the memo… 🤣🎾

Even on my “day off” I somehow end up working dogs… but honestly, this is one of my favourite things to do with Bull Terriers ❤️

People often see a flirt pole and think:
“Oh, you’re just tiring the dog out.”

But this is SO much more than just chasing a toy 👇

With the flirt pole, we can work on:
✔ impulse control
✔ engagement with the handler
✔ frustration tolerance
✔ calmness after excitement
✔ confidence building
✔ relationship and trust
✔ appropriate outlet for predatory/chasing instincts
✔ switching from arousal ➡ calm brain

For breeds like Bull Terriers, fulfilling their natural needs is incredibly important.
These dogs are intelligent, powerful, funny little chaos goblins 🤣 and if we don’t give them healthy outlets… they’ll usually create their own entertainment (and your house may not survive it 🫠).

One of the MOST important parts of flirt pole work is not the chase itself…
It’s teaching the dog HOW TO STOP.

That ability to go from:
“OH MY GOD THIS IS AMAZING!!!!!”
to
“Okay, I can breathe and think again”
is a huge life skill for many dogs ❤️

And honestly… watching Sparta use her brain, control herself, and have fun with me at the same time makes me ridiculously proud 🖤

Bull Terriers aren’t “too much.”
They just need the right guidance, structure, fulfilment, and someone who understands them ✨

Now excuse me while I continue “resting” on my day off by accidentally training dogs again 🤣
