We've finally mastered the Reishi mushroom, after lots of trial and error, we're now harvesting from our Reishi blocks!

Reishi is known for its stunning burnt orange colour and has been used for centuries, traditionally brewed into teas and extracts. It’s known for supporting the immune system, helping the body adapt to stress, and improve sleep quality.

It's not something you would throw in a fry up though it does look and smell delicious!

So because of this... we'll be adding these to our functional mushroom range very soon.

This is a bag of oak wood substrate innoculated with mycelium. After we've added the mycelium to the substrate, we incubate the substrate between 18-20°C for 2-4 weeks untill it's fully colonised with mycelium.

Now the block is ready to grow mushrooms. As soon as the block is exposed to fresh air, the fun(gi) starts.

This is what it feels like going into our grow rooms to select which mushrooms we're going to pick to send off to local chefs.

We only select the finest and most beautiful to deliver in our punnets as we want to deliver premium quality all round... but don't worry, there no mushrooms wasted as we also turn them into powders or dehydrated them into packs to add to meals.

When the Chefs that use our mushrooms want to come and see where they are grown, that says it all.

The team at The Castle Inn Bletchley came to experience the tour de champignon yesterday, to see where their mushrooms are coming from, and popped their heads in our grow rooms to experience it first hand.

We get ours from a grow tent in Fenton, oh yeah we also deliver them to your door...
