That's a wrap... 🥵🌡️
Nice wooded water walk early doors for this group of babes
I am a firm believer that no dog ever dies from not having a walk when the temperatures pass a certain point, and yes this depends on breed, age, size and other factors, like energy levels in groups.
While breed specific fulfillment, and exercise is very important, and also paying my bills (and believe me my bank account, would well and truly tell this summer to do one) it absolutely doesn't come over welfare, heat stroke in dogs is a killer, I've seen it and know many a vet nurse fighting to keep dogs alive, after someone saying I only took them for 30 mins.
As a dog professional it's important to me to set standards of what I believe in am more than happy to take enrichment to shaded gardens and let out for toilet stops, bits of training. while I know this isn't a replacement for walks, it's your best option for your dog. It's our job as dog owners to teach our dogs to settle, yes it's more than possible with working breeds.
Because of the on going rise in heat I am not seeing a lot of people talk about it, on socials and I've heard all sorts surrounding it, Dogs in this country don't adjust it takes months, and still then these temperatures are too high. Splashing in water does cool your dog, however the dog then thinks it's cool and may then push themselves. Just one last thing it's based on temperature not the time of day, at 9pm last night it was still 28, that's too hot, for most dogs.
I could go on, and on, I won't.
I am in the business of keeping dogs safe, happy and healthy. 💚🐾
