🚗☀️ Not Long. Not Worth The Risk. ☀️🚗

Never leave your dog in a parked car — even for “just a few minutes.”

Cars can heat up dangerously fast, even on mild days, and leaving windows open or parking in the shade does not keep pets safe.

🐾 Dogs can quickly suffer from heatstroke, which is a life-threatening emergency.

🚨 Signs of heatstroke include:
• Heavy panting
• Excessive drooling
• Weakness or collapse
• Vomiting
• Bright red gums

Dial 999 if you spot a dog in a hot car, the police will advise you on what to do in the situation.

If you can’t take your dog inside with you, the safest option is to leave them at home where they can stay cool and comfortable ❤️

Please help us spread the message and keep pets safe this summer.

🐾☀️ The 5 Second Rule ☀️🐾

Before heading out for a walk, always check the pavement temperature!

Place the back of your hand on the tarmac for 5 seconds…
❌ If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for your dog’s paws.

Hot pavements can cause painful burns and blisters in just minutes — even when the air temperature doesn’t feel extreme.

🌡️ On warm days:
🐕 Walk early morning or later evening
🌳 Stick to shaded or grassy areas
💧 Bring water for you and your pet
🚫 Avoid hot sand, artificial grass, and tarmac during peak heat

Your dog relies on you to keep them safe this summer ❤️

☀️ Hot weather is finally here — but when is it too hot for our dogs? 🐶🌡️

Even temperatures that feel comfortable to us can be dangerous for pets, especially during walks, car journeys, or time in the garden.

🚨 Signs of heatstroke include:
Excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, vomiting, wobbliness, or collapse.

💧 Keep walks to early morning or late evening, provide plenty of fresh water, and never leave dogs in cars — even for a few minutes.

If you’re unsure whether it’s safe, it’s always better to skip the walk and choose indoor enrichment instead 🐕❤️

Stay safe and enjoy the sunshine responsibly!

Today is National Rescue Dog Day 🐾

Many of our staff dogs are rescues, each with their own story, personality, and second chance at life.

From nervous beginnings to sofa-hogging professionals and dogs who live for muddy walks and outdoor adventures, they remind us every day how resilient, loving, and wonderfully unique rescue dogs truly are ❤️

We’d love to see your rescue pets too — share a photo and tell us about them in the comments 🐶

🐾 Common Signs of Allergies in Pets

Is your pet trying to tell you something? 👀
Allergies can show up in more ways than you might think…

• Itching, scratching, licking or chewing (especially paws, belly & ears)
• Red, inflamed skin, rashes or hot spots
• Ear problems; infections, head shaking or bad smells
• Hair loss or bald patches
• Scabs, sores or greasy skin
• Constant paw licking or swollen paws
• Tummy troubles; persistent vomiting, diarrhoea or gas
• Watery, red or itchy eyes

💚 Allergies can really affect your pet’s comfort...but the good news is, they’re manageable with the right care.

To continue with Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month and celebrating the incredible work of our Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs)

We’re sharing some fun facts about life as a vet nurse… 🐾

🐾RVNs are basically professional “pet whisperers.” They can tell the difference between “I’m scared,” “I’m grumpy,” and “I will absolutely bite you” just from a tail flick or ear twitch.
🐾You haven’t lived until you’ve tried to outsmart a cat. Many RVNs will tell you the most dangerous patient in the clinic… is a 4kg house cat with attitude.
🐾They can hold a conversation about a**l glands while eating lunch. A skill you don’t unlock in most careers.
🐾They celebrate victories like “this dog finally let me clip one nail” as if they’ve won an Olympic medal.
🐾Their pockets are chaos. Pens, bandage scissors, treats, random bits of gauze...basically a survival kit for any species.
🐾They’ve almost certainly been peed on, pooped on, drooled on… and just carried on like nothing happened.
🐾They are unofficial therapists—for both pets and owners. Half the job is calming nerves on both ends of the lead.
🐾They can switch from cuddling a puppy to assisting in surgery in minutes. Emotional whiplash is part of the job description.
