🔥 Campfires are back!

After a very dry summer and a temporary fire ban, we're very happy to say it's time to bring back one of our favourite parts of camping… evenings around the campfire. 🏕️🔥

The nights are starting to draw in, there's a little chill in the air, and we think that means cosy camping season has officially arrived! 🍂

Grab a blanket, toast some marshmallows and enjoy an evening around the fire under the Forest of Dean skies. 🌲✨

🦒 HAVE YOU SEEN THIS GIRAFFE? 🦒

We’re hoping our lovely followers can help us reunite this little giraffe with his owner! ❤️

A young girl sadly lost her much-loved giraffe while staying at Greenacres over the weekend, and she’s missing him very much.

We’re wondering if he may have accidentally hitchhiked his way home in the wrong car, caravan or camping gear! 🚗⛺️

If you stayed with us over the weekend, could you please have a quick check through your things to see if you’ve gained an unexpected passenger?

There’s something rather lovely about camping once September arrives…

The children are back at school, the summer crowds have disappeared and the Forest of Dean starts to feel a little more peaceful. 🌳

Days are still perfect for exploring, walking and cycling, while the cooler evenings are made for getting cosy back at your pitch.

And perhaps the best bit? You can actually hear the birds again! 😂

If you prefer your camping a little quieter, September could be the perfect time to escape.

LOOK UP! There’s a lunar eclipse this Friday…

Fancy seeing something a little bit magical during your stay? 🌌

In the early hours of Friday 28th August, the full moon will pass through Earth’s shadow in a spectacular deep partial lunar eclipse.

3:33am – the eclipse begins

5:12am – maximum eclipse, with around
96% of the Moon covered by Earth’s darkest shadow

Around 6:15am – the Moon sets

At its peak, the Moon could take on a beautiful dark coppery/red glow – often nicknamed a “Blood Moon”. 🌙

The Forest of Dean is a pretty special place to experience the night sky, so if you're an early riser (or a very dedicated stargazer!) set that alarm, grab a blanket and find somewhere with a clear view towards the south-western horizon.

And don't worry – unlike a solar eclipse, it's perfectly safe to watch with the naked eye. 👀

One Last Camping Trip 🌿⛺

School holidays are nearly over… but there’s still time for one last little adventure! ❤️

Why not squeeze in a final camping trip before the uniforms are back on, the alarm clocks are set and normal life begins again?

A few nights under the stars, exploring the Forest of Dean, plenty of fresh air and absolutely no thoughts of school runs. 😍

Sometimes the best memories are the spontaneous ones.

👀 THINGS YOU MIGHT NOT KNOW ABOUT GREENACRES…

We thought we’d share a few little facts about Greenacres that you might not know! 🏕️

⛺ We have 43 pitches across 3 fields — and every single pitch has access to electric hook-up!

🥐 Breakfast starts at 8.30am and runs until 11am — perfect for getting your day off to a good start!

🥐 Our pastries are VERY popular! They can sell out quickly, so if you have your heart set on one, we recommend getting in early or pre-ordering the day before.

🧼 Reception closes between 11am and 1pm while we get stuck into cleaning and changeovers.

🚽 The showers & toilets also get their deep clean between 11am and 1pm. But don't worry — there is always toilet access in the family room and the green toilets in the large field toilets while the main facilities are being cleaned.
