Well, we're delighted to share that this little superstar now has a name โ€“ Niko โ€“ and even better, he's settled in his forever home! ๐Ÿก๐Ÿฆ

This lovely photo, kindly shared with us by Evie Beasley, absolutely melts our hearts. Seeing animals settle into loving homes is one of the best parts of what we do, and Nico looks like he's settling in perfectly already. ๐Ÿ’™

We're so happy for Niko and his new family, and we can't wait to see more updates and adventures from this handsome little chap in the future. โœจ

These little ladies didn't have names yet, but they were certainly excited to visit the shop and meet everyone. Safe to say, they brought plenty of personality with them and brightened up our day! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Expecting hot weather this week? โ˜€๏ธ It's the perfect time to think about fly strike prevention for your rabbits, guinea pigs and other small animals.

Fly strike occurs when flies lay eggs on an animal's fur, usually around the rear end. These eggs quickly hatch into maggots, which can cause severe pain, serious injury and, in some cases, can be fatal if left untreated.

To help prevent fly strike:
โœ… Check your pets daily, especially around their rear end
โœ… Keep enclosures clean and dry
โœ… Remove soiled bedding promptly
โœ… Ensure long-haired pets are kept clean and well-groomed
โœ… Consider using a preventative treatment during the warmer months

Since settling in, Flopsy has been having a marvellous time, including (but certainly not limited to) plenty of garden exploration, investigating every corner he can find, and fitting in as many naps as rabbitly possible. ๐ŸŒฟโ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜ด

There's nothing better than seeing our animals thriving after they've gone home, and Flopsy looks like he's settled in wonderfully with Rosalind. Thank you for sharing this lovely update with us! โค๏ธ

One of the most common questions we get when helping people choose a hamster is whether males or females make better pets. The truth is, there's no right answer!

Generally speaking, male hamsters are often considered a little more ๐—น๐—ฎ๐—ถ๐—ฑ-๐—ฏ๐—ฎ๐—ฐ๐—ธ and ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ฎ๐˜…๐—ฒ๐—ฑ, while females can sometimes be more ๐—ฎ๐—ฐ๐˜๐—ถ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ and ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—พ๐˜‚๐—ถ๐˜€๐—ถ๐˜๐—ถ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ. However, personality varies hugely between individuals, and we've met plenty of cuddly females and energetic males over the years.

A hamster's temperament is influenced far more by regular handling, patience, and positive experiences than by whether they're male or female. Young hamsters can often be a little nervous at first, but with consistency and gentle interaction, most become much more confident.

When choosing a hamster, we'd always recommend focusing on the individual rather than the gender. Spend some time watching them, ask our team about their personalities, and find the one that feels right for you.
