Just a quick update for our clients regarding the Covid-19 situation and your dogs. We were hoping to re-open on Tuesday 14 April but sadly this is not now going to happen, as it is not yet safe to do so. Groomers have been given permission to open but with such stringent guidelines that in our opinion this would be neither safe nor ethical. Customers would not be allowed to drive to us as this is considered a ‘non-essential journey’ - yes we could collect and deliver your dog but to keep you and ourselves safe we have to keep a 2 metre distance making it much higher risk of your dog escaping, we would have to fully disinfect our vehicle between dogs and only transport/groom one dog at a time. The powerful dryers which we use would blast the virus around the room and onto other surfaces should any dog we groom be carrying the Covid-19 virus on its coat, putting us and you, our clients, at risk of spreading the disease. We would also have to wear full PPE and dispose of this between each dog, which we do not feel is ethical at this time when PPE is so desperately needed by the NHS. Therefore, morally, most good groomers with a conscience have decided to stay closed at the current time. We are aware that some dogs will start to suffer in the heat, but an extra few weeks of hair should not be a welfare problem, as long as you brush your dog’s coat thoroughly and correctly on a regular basis - this will mean that air can circulate right to your dog’s skin. It is only if you allow your dog’s coat to become matted that it will become a welfare issue. All we ask of you, our clients, is to please maintain your dog’s coat while we are closed, and please wait for us to re-open. If you decide to look for a groomer who has decided to be irresponsible and re-open at this time, please reconsider this decision - you will be putting yourself and your family at risk and also helping to spread this horrific disease and possibly prolong the lockdown. Anyone wanting help or advice at this time please message us on here or leave a message on our answerphone and we will be happy to call you back. We will be putting helpful advice regarding maintaining your dog’s coat at this difficult time on this page on a regular basis. PLEASE STAY HOME!
