Acorns, sycamore seeds, seedlings, and young oak leaves can be poisonous to farm animals and pets ⚠️

Symptoms can appear within a few hours or may take several days to develop, so if you are worried that your animals or pets may have eaten something harmful, it's important to contact your vet straight away.

If your dog is likely to show interest in acorns, a different walking spot can be the safest option, as well as taking toys or treats as a distraction!

🍂🐾 ⚠️Important conker warning 🍂🐾⚠️

🍂🐾 Conkers + Dogs = Trouble in a Shiny Brown Shell 🐾🍂

Ahhh autumn… the leaves are falling, the air’s crisp, and the paths are suddenly full of shiny conkers. Lovely for us humans, but for our dogs? 🚫 Not so much!

Conkers might look like nature’s free toy, but they’re actually poisonous to dogs. They contain a nasty toxin (aesculin if you’re feeling fancy) that can cause sickness, wobbles, and in serious cases, much worse. Plus, swallow a whole one and you’ve got the added drama of a blockage. Not fun.

👀 What to watch for if your dog snaffles a conker:
• Vomiting or diarrhoea (sorry for the mental image 💩)
• Tummy ache and restlessness
• Wobbling about like they’ve had one too many at the pub
• Collapse or breathing problems (that’s straight to the vet, no waiting)

☎️ What to do:
If you suspect your pooch has eaten a conker — call your vet immediately. Don’t wait and see, and definitely don’t try the “home remedies” unless your vet tells you to.

⚕️ Vets may make your dog bring it back up, wash the tummy out, pop them on a drip, or even perform surgery if there’s a blockage.

✨ How to avoid conker chaos:
• Keep an eye out on autumn walks
• Distract with a toy or treat when they spot one
• And definitely don’t encourage a game of “fetch the conker”

Let’s leave the conkers to the squirrels this autumn 🐿️ and keep our pups happy, healthy, and wobble-free! 🐶❤️

We’ve just said goodbye to the lovely Marvin after another tail-wagging doggy holiday! 🐾❤️ Such a gentle, loving soul — he’s been an absolute pleasure to have. From cuddles on the sofa, to joyful sprints through the long grass, and peaceful paddles in the river, Marvin truly made the most of his stay. See you next time, sweetheart! 🐶🌿💦
