This is my dog Gracie. She’s a Romanian rescue and very anxious being groomed. We’ve worked very slowly with consent based grooming and a year a 4 months later, she no longer tries to jump out the bath or off the table. I can brush her and clip her body. Still working on clipping the head neck and upper chest, but I cannot tell you what a difference it has made working slowly.
This is what we do at Short Bark and Sides. We take our time, work at the dogs pace and zero expectation of being able to complete a groom if it stresses the dog too much. We work with you and eventually we get there. It takes time, but if you’re prepared to work with us then you will end up with a dog that’s happy being groomed.
