I haven't posted on here for a while, not because I arent training but because of the horrendous torrent of abuse going on between different styles that trainers use.
Just because I dont use aversive methods such as ECollars or Prongs apparently makes me stupid and unrealistic.
My training style is unique to me and the dogs I work with.
I work to understand each dog, to get to know them, understand what they are telling me and build TRUST.
I watch and workout how they are feeling in certain situations, what is their body language telling me.
I use hand signals, a whistle and tone of voice.
I reward them with something they love, such as a ball or their favourie toy, scent work, free play or even a high value treat.
If that makes me a stupid unrealistic trainer/ dog walker then thats your opinion not mine and not the dogs I work with on a daily basis.
I'm not about quick fixes and fast turnaround.
I'm about understanding and listening.
I used to work with rescues, reactive fear based, separation anxiety and resource guarders.
Now I work with puppies ,adolescent dogs, confidence building, etiquette around all livestock, socialisation in the environment.
My dogs work with me and to be fair they are the best trainers.
Its about time the whole of the dog industry was thoroughly regulated, not just part of it.
