Our weekly opening hours in Wickford ⏰

We are open Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM (closed Mondays).

Plenty of time to bring your dog in, take your time browsing the shelves, and chat through any product questions with us. On-site parking makes it easy to pop in whenever suits your routine.

What a launch! ✨🐾
Despite the rain trying its best yesterday, so many of you popped by to welcome us to our new Wickford hub.

Seeing dogs enjoying the indoor turf arena, visitors exploring the new showroom, and chatting with so many local faces made every hour of hard work over the last few weeks completely worth it.

Our mural is painted with the dogs belonging to the team across all three on-site businesses to welcome you to the new site! 🎨🐶

Animal lovers and shoppers are being invited to the opening of a new pet, lifestyle and garden destination in Wickford

We are changing our name from My Pet Barn to The Pet Base!

The reason for the change is simple: this Saturday, 29th August, we are officially opening our expanded location at Alpha Garden Centre in Wickford. Because this new site is much more than just a shop, we wanted a name that fits everything we are building.

If you visit our new Wickford hub this Saturday between 11:00 am and 2pm, here is what we’ve set up for you:

✨ Our Showroom ✨
A specialist pet supply store focused on curated, qualified nutrition, natural treats, and durable gear.

✨ Indoor Dog Arena ✨
On site you will find a clean, secure indoor turf arena so dogs can play, train, and socialise year-round, out of the rain.

✨ Canine Care Suite ✨
Dedicated care services on site, offering professional canine massage and gentle ultrasonic teeth cleaning, run by a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN).

We are also sharing the space with some great local independent businesses:

🎨 Personal and Paws are opening their custom print studio on the same premises, where they turn your pet photos into custom mugs, clothes, and gifts on the spot.

🌸 The Garden Larder is offering a handpicked selection of outdoor plants and garden decorations, alongside a lovely farm pantry stocking fresh sourdough bread, eggs, local honey, jams, sauces, and Essex-favourite Rossi ice cream.

With our brand-new pet hub launching right next to the long-standing aquatics store and the reptile specialists on site, the location has really become a complete destination for local pet lovers.

Our original shop at Walton Hall Farm in Stanford-le-Hope is staying exactly as it is - with the same focus on honest, expert-guided nutrition and a curated selection of great products.

We’ve put a lot of hard work into setting this space up, and we'd love to know what you think. If you are local, please come down and say hello this weekend - dogs are very welcome!

We spent part of our Sunday doing some prep work behind the scenes for an exciting project we're working on. Anya made sure proper safety protection was followed!
