Just some gorgeous faces to share with you this morning 🥰🐶 not one breed the same!

A little prompt also to flag we’re pretty much fully booked from now until August (and August is getting tight), we’re having people message to reschedule appointments and if you do need to move, those are our next soonest spaces. 😬

Please book in advance to secure your appointments! We have a cancellation list, if you’d like to be added to it please let us know. Also any last minute gaps might be added to our story so keep an eye on there.

🚨 It’s Flea and Tick Season! 🚨

With the warmer weather, fleas and ticks are even more active. They thrive in long grass, wooded areas, gardens, and even in your home if brought indoors. It’s more important than ever to protect your pets.

Please ensure your dogs (and other pets) are treated with proper flea and tick prevention. These pests can cause serious health problems, including Lyme disease and other infections.

Stay vigilant:

- Check your pets regularly after walks or time outdoors
- Keep your garden tidy by mowing lawns and trimming bushes
- Treat your home and outdoor areas if necessary
- Speak to your vet about the best preventative treatments vs over counter

🦷 🪥 Did you know that over 80% of dogs show signs of gum disease by age 3? 🐾 Gum disease isn’t just about bad breath — it can lead to serious health issues if left untreated. Regularly check your dogs teeth and look out for signs like: 🔍

- Red, swollen, or bleeding gums
- Bad breath
- Drooling more than usual
- Loose or missing teeth
- Difficulty eating or chewing
- Pawing at the mouth
- Receding gums or visible tartar buildup

Regular brushing, dental checkups, and maintenance cleaning can help keep your dog’s mouth healthy 🦷🐕

Meet Me 👋🏻

I’m Kim, I groom your dog(s) or I work in the salon where your dogs are groomed!

Before dog grooming, I jumped from job to job and I didn’t know anything about the world of dog grooming. I had Rottweilers all my life, and was surprised at the thought they can be washed and brushed?!

When Carly (my sister, Soap and Furry owner), said to me one day that she’s moving her business out of her back garden cabin and into a shop, “do you want to come and work for me?” Hell yes!

When I first started, there was no uniform, I was replying to customers/answering the phone, making coffee’s and doing SO many walks of shame back to the drying room because no, the dog is not dry!

I got a border terrier and a border collie mixed up 😱 the first winter we worked in our coats and jumpers because it was so cold! Thank god for the air conditioning unit now 😅

I loved going to work everyday, everyday/every dog was different. I had no desire to move back home (sorry mum and dad!), so I enrolled on a course, and I was very lucky that after the training days I was going back to work and putting what I was learning into practice!

So much has changed since the doors first opened on Scotgate, from being employed to self employed and so much more! But one things for sure, Carly is stuck with me, I’m not going anywhere, my little independent business is not going anywhere.

If you’ve reached the end, I thank you from the bottom of my heart, I just wanted to do a little (big) personal post about me, your dog groomer, and how I started and what this job means to me 🥰

It’s been Ronnie’s birthday weekend 🥰 the pup is 3! 🥹 not only has he had a birthday to celebrate but we ventured down to Somerset on Sunday for our first competition in almost a year at . No placing, but positive feedback from judge , fab competition too. Always learning! Note to self for better photos! Remember not to wear a black tunic 🥴 first time trimming him properly since pretty much August last year so did feel a bit out of practice so overall I’m pleased with how he’s turned out. Looking forward to the next one 🥰 well done and her team for a great show and very kindly allowing me to borrow the salon for prep. Means a lot, thank you!
