⭐️ Paignton and District Show & Premier Groom 2025 ⭐️

Sitting down after a whirlwind few weeks competing 😆 last weekend we ventured down to Exeter for the first grooming competition at the Paignton and District Championship Show, I’d originally borrowed Vinnie from the lovely Julia Wells to enter this show, after having him as a house guest for a few weeks, we fell in love with him and have since kept him 😆🤣 welcome to the family Vinnie pup 🐩 his first competition and he was super! Came away with 1st in Open Poodle and Best Transformation 🏆🏵️ so so pleased, 🙏🏼 wonderful feedback from judge Lee Cox can’t wait to keep working on this trim with him. Thanks to the club for organising, a great day!

Sunday we were back at the Kennel Club for Premier Groom with Ronnie. Vinnie came along as support crew and to get him used to the bigger shows. We bagged 2nd in such a competitive class🥈 🥳 super pleased! Another great event, fantastic judges, .valerie and Romana Kania thank you! Amazing grooms all round!

On cloud 9, looking forward to the next ones! 🥳🥰

🐾 We’re delighted to announce that we’re proud sponsors of this year’s Stamford Dog Show! 🐾

This fantastic local event is a wonderful opportunity to bring together dog lovers of all ages for a fun-filled day celebrating our four-legged friends. From exciting classes to fantastic stalls, there’s something for everyone. Proceeds being raised for the 2nd Town Scouts.

A little prompt also to flag we’re pretty much fully booked from now until August (and August is getting tight), we’re having people message to reschedule appointments and if you do need to move, those are our next soonest spaces. 😬

Please book in advance to secure your appointments! We have a cancellation list, if you’d like to be added to it please let us know. Also any last minute gaps might be added to our story so keep an eye on there.

🚨 It’s Flea and Tick Season! 🚨

With the warmer weather, fleas and ticks are even more active. They thrive in long grass, wooded areas, gardens, and even in your home if brought indoors. It’s more important than ever to protect your pets.

Please ensure your dogs (and other pets) are treated with proper flea and tick prevention. These pests can cause serious health problems, including Lyme disease and other infections.

Stay vigilant:

- Check your pets regularly after walks or time outdoors
- Keep your garden tidy by mowing lawns and trimming bushes
- Treat your home and outdoor areas if necessary
- Speak to your vet about the best preventative treatments vs over counter

They're small little buggers! Let’s keep our furry friends safe, healthy, and comfortable this season! 🐾❤️

🦷 🪥 Did you know that over 80% of dogs show signs of gum disease by age 3? 🐾 Gum disease isn’t just about bad breath — it can lead to serious health issues if left untreated. Regularly check your dogs teeth and look out for signs like: 🔍

- Red, swollen, or bleeding gums
- Bad breath
- Drooling more than usual
- Loose or missing teeth
- Difficulty eating or chewing
- Pawing at the mouth
- Receding gums or visible tartar buildup

Regular brushing, dental checkups, and maintenance cleaning can help keep your dog’s mouth healthy 🦷🐕

Meet Me 👋🏻

I’m Kim, I groom your dog(s) or I work in the salon where your dogs are groomed!

Before dog grooming, I jumped from job to job and I didn’t know anything about the world of dog grooming. I had Rottweilers all my life, and was surprised at the thought they can be washed and brushed?!

When Carly (my sister, Soap and Furry owner), said to me one day that she’s moving her business out of her back garden cabin and into a shop, “do you want to come and work for me?” Hell yes!

When I first started, there was no uniform, I was replying to customers/answering the phone, making coffee’s and doing SO many walks of shame back to the drying room because no, the dog is not dry!

I got a border terrier and a border collie mixed up 😱 the first winter we worked in our coats and jumpers because it was so cold! Thank god for the air conditioning unit now 😅

I loved going to work everyday, everyday/every dog was different. I had no desire to move back home (sorry mum and dad!), so I enrolled on a course, and I was very lucky that after the training days I was going back to work and putting what I was learning into practice!

So much has changed since the doors first opened on Scotgate, from being employed to self employed and so much more! But one things for sure, Carly is stuck with me, I’m not going anywhere, my little independent business is not going anywhere.

If you’ve reached the end, I thank you from the bottom of my heart, I just wanted to do a little (big) personal post about me, your dog groomer, and how I started and what this job means to me 🥰
