Lead The Way Vet Physiotherapy and Behaviour Training

Lead The Way Vet Physiotherapy and Behaviour Training I'm extending my business to support the well-being and rehabilitation of these fantastic animals.

I would love to hear from you and where possible work in partnership with you to ensure the physical and mental well-being of your canine companion. My name is Charlotte Speller, and I am the proud owner of Lead the Way! Animals of all types have always been and always will be my absolute passion! As a family we have always owned dogs (Shih Tzus, English Bull Terriers and Boxers) and various small

domestic pets. Looking after there every need, making sure they are fit, well and contented, makes me happy. I have lived in Enfield all my life and know the surrounding areas well. Inspired by Brutus, my beautiful 3 year old Boxer, I have been working with a local dog training club for 3 years and started professionally dog walking in 2012. I have completed Levels 2 and 3 in Canine Care Management and Training, Training and Behaviour as well as an Odin Instructors Course and Canine First Aid. Additionally, I have also obtained my Grade 2 with the British Institute of Professional Dog Trainers Instructors (BIPDT). Added to this, I am CRB (Police) checked, fully insured, and hold a full clean driving licence and have my own transport specifically tailored for the safe transportation for your pet(s).

Last week, the world lost a true ray of sunshine. Victoria was not only my friend, but an exceptional veterinary physiotherapist whose dedication and compassion touched so many lives — both human and animal.

She worked tirelessly to achieve her degree, pouring her heart into her studies and her calling. Victoria was incredibly knowledgeable, but what truly set her apart was her kindness and unwavering consideration for every animal’s wellbeing. She treated each one with such gentleness, respect, and love. She really was the full package — skilled, dedicated, compassionate, and full of light.

The world lost you far too early, Hun. Your warmth, your laugh, your passion, and your beautiful spirit will stay with me always. Every time I treat an animal, it will be in dedication to you. Your influence will continue through the care I give, inspired by the standard and heart you showed every single day.

I will miss you every day, Vi. Thank you for being such a bright light in my life and in the lives of so many.

Forever in our hearts. 🤍

It makes me so proud to wish heart felt congratulations to Zoe and Foden on their 4th place at the “Leonberger Club of Great Britain Double Championship Show”!

I only recently started working with Foden after Zoe became concerned that he wasn’t moving quite right. Most recently I saw him on Monday for an appointment, after which Zoe said he was “moving beautifully”, it would seem the judges agreed with Zoe! Going forward, we’ll be putting a conditioning plan in place to hopefully support a 1st at his next show!

Physiotherapy isn’t just for improving the condition of agility and obedience dogs — being in the show ring is all about standing and moving well, which is exactly what physiotherapy is designed to help with.

Congratulations again to you both!

This week, I had the absolute pleasure of speaking with passionate pet parents in Taiwan about recognising pain in their dogs. It’s amazing how technology has made the world such a small place.

It makes me so happy to connect with such engaged and caring owners who are eager to learn more about their pets’ wellbeing.

A huge thank you to 浪犬博士 , my wonderful colleague Lucy and her amazing team (including Tammy with the fantastic translation) and of course everyone who tuned in live or will be watching the recording later.

I truly hope to keep collaborating with all of you in the future — together, we can make a real difference for our furry friends. 💛

Last month, I had the pleasure of leading a series of fun and functional canine conditioning workshops at the Young Kennel Club summer event 🐾 An amazing few days packed with energy, learning, and wagging tails!

I've written a short blog reflecting on the experience and why conditioning is key to building better bonds with your dog.
👉 Read it here https://leadthewayphysio.co.uk/2025/08/19/building-better-bonds-canine-conditioning-with-the-young-kennel-club-ykc/

Can’t wait to work with the Young Kennel Club again soon!

Thank you to Chibaya Photography for the fabulous photos

Flying start at WSL Fete & Dog show (Wooton St. Lawrence Church Field). A busy morning already talking to people about veterinary physiotherapy and the treatments we provide. Lots of interest as well in the technology and study currently underway with Hofmag and gait analysis with tenidboots.

As temperatures rise, our furry friends are at risk of heat stroke, a life-threatening condition that can escalate quickly. Watch for these warning signs:

🚨 Excessive panting
🚨 Drooling or foaming at the mouth
🚨 Lethargy or weakness
🚨 Vomiting or diarrhea
🚨 Bright red or pale gums
🚨 Collapse or seizures

If your dog shows any of these symptoms, move them out the sun GET THEM WET and GET TO THE VET. If you think it's to hot to take your dog out it probably is so if in doubt DON'T TAKE THE DOG OUT.

☀️ Don’t let the heat catch you off guard—learn how to keep your pup safe and cool all summer long. 👉 save this post and Read my latest blog: Beating the Heat with Your Dog for essential tips and tricks! https://leadthewayphysio.co.uk/2025/06/27/beating-the-heat-with-your-dog/

More Than a Business—A Mission Rooted in Compassion and Connection
How I Got Here

I still can’t quite believe that I get to do a job I love every single day.

My journey began in dog behaviour training, where I quickly noticed that many behaviour issues weren’t just “behavioural”—they were rooted in musculoskeletal pain or underlying medical conditions. Around the same time, my own dog became my greatest teacher. I helped him recover after TPLO surgery for a cruciate ligament rupture, and later supported him through life after a limb amputation following an osteosarcoma diagnosis.

Although we received some rehabilitation support, I often felt the approach was too narrow—focused on one area without considering the whole dog. That frustration planted a seed.

It led me to pursue veterinary physiotherapy, with a promise to myself and the dogs I work with: to always treat the whole dog—body and mind—as one. This is more than a business to me. It’s a personal mission to bring compassion, understanding, and truly holistic care to every animal I meet.
