Did you know that cats' paws contain glands that release pheromones? 😺
When a cat scratches their nails, they leave their natural scent on the chosen surface, which acts as a way of marking their territory. These smells are practically undetectable by our human noses, but other cats will be able to detect them and notice that there’s another cat nearby.
This is why scratching things is instinctive for your feline friend! So, if you don't want them to ruin your sofa, it’s important to make sure they have appropriate surfaces, such as scratching posts around. Additionally, scratching their nails is also beneficial as it helps to stretch muscles, relieve stress, and wear down the nails so they don’t become too long and end up curling into the paw pad!

Have you ever wondered why cats jump so silently and gracefully? 😺
The pads on their paws act as excellent shock absorbers as they soften the impact of the fall and muffle the sound, making them silent hunters who often go unnoticed by their prey.

Reptiles are brilliant pets and can be super rewarding species to care for. Their enclosures can be extravagant, and we recommend that they mimic their natural environment as closely as possible.
In the wild, they have a vast amount of space to explore, and this can be difficult to replicate in a home environment. Believe it or not, reptiles have shown that they enjoy learning, problem solving and using their memory.
To avoid reptiles becoming bored in their environment, there are simple ways that they can be stimulated:
🐍 Have different levels within the enclosure with plenty of hiding spaces.
🦎 Rewarding food puzzles can make them work for their food, such as having to hunt and tip over a pot.
🐢 Pets such as tortoises can have supervised time in an outdoor run.
🦎 Reptiles that eat greens can have these scattered throughout the enclosure to encourage foraging.
🐍 Food can be suspended from different areas to make them work for their food.
What are some ways that you encourage mental stimulation in your reptiles? Share them in the comments!
