This is 5 year old Baby Alfie aka Altair SA fed on Sweet Meadow Horse Feeds Herbal Calm Chaff. He went to his first competition last weekend at Cockshot Dressage winning the BD Prelim Class!! Well done Alfie & Brand Ambassador Kate Jones, a great start to a competitive career!!

There are many factors that can contribute to weight loss in the horse. Including harsh, cold weather, poor dentition, stress and worms. Initially the reason should be established and dealt with before a suitable feeding regime is embarked upon.

Ideally a feed high in digestible fibre, oil and good quality protein should be fed to improve condition without causing excitability or any unwanted behaviour during the winter months, when due to poor weather conditions horses tend to spend more time stabled indoors.

Sweet Meadow Horse Feeds complete conditioning feeds include:

Bloom & Shine - a high oil fibre feed, complete with a high spec vitamin & balancer pellet, yeast, probiotics & TurmerAid. It can be fed as the sole concentrate diet for horses in light to medium work when fed at the recommended daily rate of 2kg per 500kg horse. Or as a superior conditioning feed.

Conditioning Fibre Mix - a complete, high fibre, high oil conditioning feed & contains quality protein to promote topline. Suitable for horses that require a low starch diet.

Alfalfa Plus - an appetising blend of alfalfa with a little oat straw coated in linseed oil. A molasses free low sugar blend with an added vitamin and mineral supplement and naturally high in digestible fibre. Low in sugar and starch. It can be fed as the sole concentrate diet to horses in light to medium work or added to the diet as required.
