☀️🌡️ Hot Weather Warning 🐾🏍️

With high temperatures expected over the next few days, we’d like to remind everyone to take extra care of their pets in the heat.

🐶 Walk dogs early in the morning or later in the evening
💧 Make sure fresh, cool water is always available
🌳 Provide shade and cool resting areas
🚗 Never leave pets in cars — even for a few minutes
🐾 Remember that hot pavements can burn paws very quickly

Flat-faced breeds, older pets, overweight animals, and pets with breathing problems are especially at risk of heatstroke.

⚠️ Signs of overheating include:

* Excessive panting
* Drooling
* Weakness or wobbliness
* Vomiting
* Collapse

Please take care during the TT period and help keep your furry family members safe and comfortable. 💙 Better to prevent than treat.

📢 TT Opening Hours Update 🏍️🐾

Dear Clients,

Please be advised that during TT Practice Week and Race Week, our practice will be open from 9:00am to 5:00pm.

📅 We will be closed on:

* Late May Bank Holiday - 25th May
* TT Bank Holiday - 5th June

🚨 Outside of opening hours, our on-call vet will remain available for emergencies.

Thank you for your understanding during the TT period, and please allow extra travel time due to road closures and increased traffic. 💙

Dear Clients,

Please be advised that pet travel rules have recently changed.

EU pet passports issued for Isle of Man residents are no longer accepted for travel to Northern Ireland or EU countries.

If you are planning to travel with your pet, please contact us well in advance to ensure you have the correct documentation in place.

Important update for pet owners 🐶🐈

EU-issued pet passports are no longer valid for pets owned by residents of the Isle of Man or Great Britain when travelling to the EU or Northern Ireland.

If you're planning to travel with your cat or dog, you'll need an Animal Health Certificate (AHC) instead. Contact your vet practice to arrange one before you travel.

Dr Amy Beckett, Isle of Man Chief Veterinary Officer, said: "To ensure smooth travel to the EU or Northern Ireland with your pet, please contact your vet to obtain an AHC in good time."

Valid EU pet passports remain accepted for travel back to Great Britain and the Isle of Man.

This morning, a petite black female cat was found deceased at the end of Kennaa Road, entering Curragh Road. Unfortunately, the cat was not microchipped, so we are unable to trace an owner.

We are sharing this information in case anyone is looking for a missing cat matching this description. Please feel free to pass this message on to neighbours or local groups who may be able to help identify her.

🟠 AMBER Weather Warning – Heavy Rain
Valid: 9th Dec, 00:00–10:00
Persistent, heavy rain overnight into the morning with potential for surface water flooding.

🔴 RED Weather Warning – Coastal Overtopping
Valid: 9th Dec, 13:00–16:00
High tide around 2:30pm may bring significant overtopping in exposed coastal areas.

🟡 YELLOW Weather Warning – Severe Gales
Valid: 9th Dec, 13:00–16:00
Gale to severe-gale south to south-westerly winds may cause minor travel disruption.

Overnight and early morning rain will leave ground over saturated, with areas of standing water and the potential for some trees to come down, leading to brief disruption or delays to travel. There is also the potential for around 20mm of rain between 3–6am, which may cause standing water on some of the Island’s roads during the Tuesday morning commute. Please take care, especially when travelling near affected areas.

As the holidays approach, we’d like to remind you to order any medications your pet may need during the Christmas and New Year period.

To ensure your pet’s medications are ready in time, please place your order by Tuesday, 16th December.

🎅 Christmas Week Opening Hours:
• Mon 22nd December: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm
• Tue 23rd December: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm
• Wed 24th December: 9:00 am - 2:00 pm
• Thur 25th December (Christmas Day): Closed
• Fri 26th December (Boxing Day): Closed

On 31st December (New Year’s Eve) we will be open until 2:00 pm and on 1st January (New Year) we will be closed.

🐾 A True Team Effort – and a Little Hero Among Us 💙

It’s been an emotional day at Medicor. Our patient Nya became suddenly and severely anaemic today. An ultrasound revealed abnormalities in her small intestine, likely the cause of chronic internal blood loss that led to her life-threatening anaemia.

She urgently needed surgery - but her red blood cell levels were dangerously low. A transfusion was the only way to give her a fighting chance.

That’s when our own four-legged team member, Jadzia, quietly stepped up once again. 🐶💉
Many of you will remember Jadzia - she’s our practice dog who has been a loving recovery support to her brother Teddy after his own life-saving surgery. Today, she proved her courage once more by donating blood to help Nya.

Thanks to Jadzia’s generosity, Nya was able to undergo emergency surgery. Her condition is still critical but stable, and we’re keeping everything crossed for a full recovery. 🤞❤️

We’re so proud of these two brave girls - Nya, for her strength to fight through a tough day, and Jadzia, for her calm and selfless act of kindness. She may not realise it, but she truly is one of our everyday heroes.
