We are delighted to announce that the overall winner of our Top Dog Competition and the DogFriendly holiday prize is Ludo!

Ludo’s mum told us “Ludo is a deaf partially sighted rescue boy who was cruelly treated and discarded by his owner as he couldn’t hunt due to his disabilities. Ludo was found with his front leg broken in two places, a head injury, fluid on his lungs and cuts and bruises all over. Despite Ludo’s cruel treatment he has a heart of gold and has become my autistic son’s best friend and emotional regulator, he knows when my son is struggling and gives him the biggest cuddles. Ludo is truly worth his weight in gold and is a massive part of our family”.

When we told Nicola that Ludo had won our Top Dog prize, she said “what absolutely wonderful news. I’m over the moon that Ludo has been chosen as the overall winner of the Top Dog Competition (I can’t believe it) and to make it extra special, it is Ludo’s birthday today!

He means the world to us and is our rock! Knowing that others see the same spark, sweetness, and spirit in him is incredibly touching. Winning a DogFriendly Holiday is such a special prize, and we’re just so, so proud of him”

We have contacted all of the winners, and over the coming days we'll be sharing their winning stories and photos with you all. We're also busy preparing and sending out the prizes as quickly as we can, so thank you for your patience.

Entering our Top Dog competition couldn't be easier – and it’s free:

Every day, we choose new Top Dogs from the entries we receive. If your dog is selected, they'll join one of our six sponsored football teams, each proudly backed by a fantastic pet business. By 19th July (World Cup Final Day), each team will have its full squad of 13 dogs (11 players and 2 substitutes).
Every dog chosen for a team will receive a small prize from their team sponsor. Then, after the World Cup Final, one lucky dog will be crowned our overall Top Dog and win an amazing DogFriendly holiday worth £1,000! 🎉

To celebrate England's win yesterday, we have selected five Top Dogs (in recognition of the 5 goals scored in Mexico) to join our World Pup Teams today.

Each Dog has won a prize and will be included in the draw on World Cup Final Day to win a DogFriendly holiday.

Here are today's new team members:

Team ShakePaws - Dolly, "She was used for breeding had no training when I got her. She is now a very a very well behaved and much loved dog"

Team Dogfriendly - Luti, "She is so friendly and loveable even though she has had a rough year. She lost her eye, but she never complained and just loves lots of love she is our wee girl"

Team PARK LiFE PET -Alfie, "Alfie knows how to put a smile on everyone's face! He's an absolute people pleaser and would rather you than treats. He's been with me through thick and thin and and has always seen me though, the only thing that I have to compete with is his other love in life - balls!"

Team LickiMat® - Vinnie, "I got Vinnie, a 4 month little rescue dog from Hungary, in May ‘25 He is so anxious and fearful, we couldn’t go outside. It’s been so hard, but seeing how far he has come is incredible. He is the bravest little dog, and I love him more than I ever knew possible"

After a tough (and frustrating) game to watch this evening, I hope this makes you smile. Today's Top Dog winner is a dog we could do with as a defender! Balloo is joining Team

Balloo's mum told us why she thinks her dog is a Top Dog:
"My boy is ball mad. Flicks the ball up in the air with his paw, plays goal keeper by catching ball in his mouth or paws. Mostly he is a top dog because he’s there for me whatever. If I am having a bad day, he will comfort me and follow me everywhere. If I am having a wobble, he will be close to me to see me through. Watching him always brightens my day".

Today's Top Dog (and what a handsome chap he is) is Jimbo. He will be joining Team DogFriendly.
Jimbo's mum said: "Jimbo is our world, a small pooch with a lot of character. He’s our little boys best friend who has autism and anxiety! We adore jimmy!"

Today's Top Dog is gorgeous Lacee. She is joining Team@sendadogaboneuk
Lacee's proud mum told us "My Golden Retriever, Lacee, is a Pets As Therapy dog, or PAT dog for short. At seven years old, she passed her temperament test to join the charity when she turned one. Since then, Lacee has made regular visits to the local hospital, a school weekly, a dementia and mental health support centre, a child bereavement charity and a care home. We also visit local establishments for staff wellbeing sessions, including the police. Lacee is often seen at places, where we promote the charity, like John Lewis and many dog shows throughout the summer. She’s very much my best friend and a true top dog, bringing comfort to so many".

To celebrate England playing this evening, we have chosen two Top Dogs today. Firstly Frank, who will be joining Team .dog and Pickle, who will be joining Team .

Frank's dad told us: "Franklin T Poodle Esq is a patient and understanding big brother to Howie “the blonde buffoon”. A stickler for rules, Frank really should have his own hi-viz jacket, safety glasses and a health and safety clipboard. In fact, he would make an ideal referee - there would be no unnecessary falling over to win a penalty, no hand ball and no need for VAR. Not on Frank’s watch, no sir. A regular star of Dog Friendly magazine, Frank is accustomed to fame, but he hasn’t succumbed to stardom - no football WAG for this poodle, but he does have a very waggy tail!"

And Pickle's mum told us "I’m 77 and Pickle is my best friend. Pickle was a Bosnian stray with the loveliest smile and character once she settled in. I live in sheltered extra care accommodation and everybody here loves her. She is everyone’s favourite".

Bailey's mum said "Bailey is Top Dog, Bailey has grown up helping other dogs be brave in the face of their reactiveness. He also helps patients in dementia homes and has gone through Surgeries himself to overcome a luxating Patella. He is now brave enough and strong enough to take on hikes around the UK, visiting major cities and racing in 10k's all before the age of 5. He lights up my day and others when he can’t help but say hello to them, the next 5 years will bring so many adventures and joy into my life".

Today's Top Dog winner is Mika who will be joining Team Send a dog a bone
Mika's mum said "Mika is a kind, fun-loving Pomsky with a big heart to match her fluffy personality. She has successfully passed her Silver Kennel Club Good Citizen Award and is now working hard towards her Gold, an impressive achievement that reflects her wonderful temperament, intelligence and dedication to training.
Mika is the perfect TOP DOG, and it’s easy to see why! Friendly, enthusiastic and always eager to learn, she is a fantastic ambassador for responsible dog ownership. Once she achieves her Gold Award, Mika will begin training as a Therapy Dog, following in the pawprints of her sisters, who already bring comfort, confidence and smiles to people through visits to hospitals and schools.
Making a positive difference to others is clearly a family trait, and we have no doubt that Mika will continue that legacy with the same warmth, kindness and gentle nature that makes her so special".
