I'm about to embark on learning more about the dogs olfactory system and how it comes into play with sniffer dogs and the law.
I can't wait!

Dogs are amazing animals 👌🏻

Did you know that the tiny vertical groove between a dog’s nose and upper lip actually has a purpose? It’s called the vegetal groove (or philtrum), and it’s not there by accident!

Each time a dog licks its lips, a bit of saliva collects in that groove. Through a process called capillarization, the moisture travels up to the nose — helping keep it damp.

And why does that matter? Because a moist nose is much better at capturing and holding scents from the air. 🌬️✨ That’s part of what makes a dog’s sense of smell so incredibly powerful!

Nature’s design is always so clever, isn’t it? 🐕💛

I have just realized wags n woofs is now 8 years old!!!

From the day we started it went off with a bang and has spiralled (in a good way) ever since.

I can't thank you all enough for all of your support. Everything matters, even if it's just a comment, like or share of a post 🫶🏻

Here's to many more years to come!
And all the dogs that are yet to cross our HQ gates 🐕🐩🐶🐾🐾

Brilliant night round the firepit toasting marshmallows at the weekend.

It's very quiet here ATM as not much training happening but I'm trying to get back into writing a weekly blog.

Today is the ginger ones 10th birthday 🫶🏻

It is also coco's heavenly birthday 💖

Pepper has had sausage for breakfast and a meaty treat.

The gorgeous Olaf got attacked and bitten on his leg a week or so ago!
So his owner wanted to bring him over to socialise with my dogs so he doesn't have any bad feelings about other dogs.

He was a little wary to start with but after 5 mins of being back with friendly dogs that he's met before he was put at ease.

At one point he was lying down with pepper with his head on her back 💖

Frenchie's have never been on the top of my list for my favourite breeds but this guy is adorable!

Puppy went to the vets yesterday to get some antibiotics because she has caused a sore on another toe through excessive licking 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️😭

She's been given a bigger cone now as she figured the other one out 😂 we are all going to have bruised shins and calves over the next week 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️
