🐾 Meet Phoebe ✨

Phoebe came to visit us recently for her laparoscopic (keyhole) spay, and she was an absolute star throughout her stay.

Before her procedure, Phoebe spent some time getting comfortable with the team — and clearly decided that David’s knee was the perfect place to relax! 🥰 Despite being a big girl, she was more than happy to enjoy some fuss and reassurance before heading through for surgery.

The next photo shows David carefully performing Phoebe’s laparoscopic spay, using this minimally invasive technique to allow for smaller incisions and a more comfortable recovery. You can also see her neat little post-operative wound, which is one of the benefits of this approach.

Phoebe took everything in her stride and we were delighted with how well she did. She was a wonderful patient and we loved looking after her during her visit with us.

Wishing you a smooth recovery, Phoebe — we hope you’re enjoying plenty of cuddles at home! 💕🐶

🐶🦴 It's National Give a Dog a Bone Day!

While it's tempting to treat your dog to a bone, not all bones and chews are safe. Hard bones, antlers, and similar products can lead to broken teeth, mouth injuries, and even digestive problems.

That's why we stock No-Hide Chews – a highly digestible, long-lasting alternative that satisfies your dog's natural urge to chew without the risks associated with many hard bones.

Come into the practice to pick up a No-Hide Chew for your dog! 🐾💜

💜 Brave Pet of the Month – Meet Little Peanut! 💜

At just 11 weeks old, little Peanut the Dachshund has already shown incredible courage.

Earlier this week, Peanut was sadly attacked by another dog, suffering a serious injury to her face, including a broken nose. She was brought straight to us, where our vet, Rosey, performed emergency surgery to remove the damaged bone, which unfortunately also involved removing her upper incisors.

Despite everything she had been through, Peanut amazed us all. She recovered brilliantly from her surgery and was happily eating shortly afterwards – proving just how resilient this tiny puppy really is.

For her bravery, determination, and fighting spirit, we are delighted to award Peanut our Brave Pet of the Month award. 🏆🐾

We're so proud of this little girl and can't wait to watch her continue to recover. Everyone at Ainsdale Vets is rooting for you, Peanut! ❤️

Please join us in wishing Peanut a speedy recovery in the comments below. 🥰🐶

🐾 Meet the Team Behind the Team 🐾

This week, we're introducing Rosey's wonderful sidekick, Chocco! 🐶

Chocco is a Cattle Dog x Staffie rescue who made the incredible journey from Australia to the UK with Rosey.

Friendly, affectionate, and always happy to make new four-legged friends, Chocco loves long walks and meeting other dogs wherever he goes. He's a much-loved member of Rosey's family and a perfect example of the special pets who support our team behind the scenes at Ainsdale Vets.💜

This lovely cat has been found on Segars Lane, Ainsdale. 🐾

The cat is microchipped, but the chip is registered to an address in North Lanarkshire, and unfortunately neither of the contact numbers appears to be working.

If you think this might be your cat, or you know who they belong to, please get in touch with us on 01704443371. We'd be delighted to help reunite them with their owner. ❤️

Please feel free to share this post to help us find their family.

🌾 Watch Out for Grass Seeds! 🐾

This lovely girl, Tulip, came to see us with a swollen, painful paw. After examining her and carrying out further investigations, we discovered the cause—a grass seed embedded in her paw.

Grass seeds may be small, but they can cause big problems. Their sharp shape allows them to burrow into the skin, often between the toes, leading to pain, swelling, infection, and abscesses. If left untreated, they can even migrate deeper into the body.

After walks, especially through long grass, it's a good idea to check your dog's paws, ears, eyes, and coat. If you notice limping, swelling, excessive licking, or a sore that isn't healing, it's best to have your pet checked promptly.

We're delighted to say Tulip had the grass seed removed and is now on the road to recovery! 💜🐶

🐾🐾 Pet of the Month: Thor! ❤️

This month's Pet of the Month is our very special patient, Thor. 💙

When Thor first came to us, he had been struggling with painful ears for a long time and wouldn't let anyone touch them. He was understandably nervous about visiting the vets and needed daily ear drops for two weeks, which meant lots of visits.

Helping Thor wasn't just about treating his ears—it was about helping him feel safe. With patience, gentle care, tasty treats, and plenty of cuddles, he soon stole our hearts.

Now, Thor comes bounding through the door with a wagging tail, excited to see everyone. Watching his confidence grow has been one of the most rewarding parts of his journey.

Thor, you've been the bravest boy, and we're so proud to name you our Pet of the Month! 🐾

🐶💗 Meet Coco!

Coco came in today to be spayed. At just 1.94 kg, she's one of our tiniest patients!

🌡️ Fun fact: Smaller dogs can lose body heat much more quickly while under anaesthetic because of their size. During surgery, pets aren't able to regulate their body temperature as effectively, so keeping them warm is an important part of a safe anaesthetic.

That's why we continuously monitor Coco's temperature throughout her procedure and use our Bair Hugger warming system, which gently blows warm air through a special blanket to help maintain her body temperature until she's ready for recovery.

Coco was a fantastic patient and is now recovering well. We wish her a speedy recovery! 💜🐾

🐾✨ Meet Our New Vet – Rosey! ✨🐾

We’re delighted to welcome Rosey to the team here at Ainsdale Vets! 💙

Rosey qualified as a veterinary surgeon in Canada almost 40 years ago, graduating with honours. Over the years, she has built an incredible career, working in Canada, the UK, and Australia, where she spent 20 years caring for pets and their families.

She has a real passion for diagnostics and preventative healthcare and loves helping pets stay happy and healthy through every stage of life.

Rosey returned to the UK to be closer to her family, bringing her much-loved rescue dog, Chocco, along with her! 🐶❤️

When she’s not in practice, Rosey enjoys long walks with Chocco, keeping active with yoga, and discovering cosy pubs serving a great pint of real ale.

If you see Rosey in practice, be sure to say hello and give her a warm Ainsdale welcome! 🐾
