A huge thank you to Emma from for joining us on Sunday and running a fantastic day of Hoopers workshops for our members!

We had a mixture of progression sessions and an introduction workshop, and it was brilliant to see so many dogs (and handlers!) having such a great time. Mine certainly enjoyed themselves!

Hoopers is a fantastic dog sport that is suitable for a huge range of dogs and handlers. Unlike agility, there are no jumps or tight turns, making it a low-impact activity that is ideal for older dogs, young dogs, dogs returning from injury, or those who may not be suited to agility due to fitness or physical limitations. It's also a great option for handlers who want to enjoy a dog sport without quite so much running around themselves!

The flowing courses, soft turns, and emphasis on teamwork make it a fun and accessible activity for dogs of all ages and abilities.

It was lovely to see so many happy dogs working confidently and enjoying learning something new. Thank you again to Emma for sharing her knowledge and expertise with us, and to everyone who came along and made the day such a success.

We hope to welcome Emma back again in the future!

It's been another busy week at MAD Dog Club! ☀️🐾

The sunshine has certainly made an appearance this week, and combined with the Bank Holiday Monday, it has meant quite a bit of reshuffling to ensure our dogs weren't training in the heat.

Thankfully, we're incredibly lucky to have access to a lovely shaded venue, which has made a huge difference and allowed us to keep everyone safe and comfortable.

This week has been packed with our regular weekly classes, agility sessions, a doggy social, and Sporting Sunday, which included both agility and hoopers workshops. It's been a busy one, but a brilliant one!

I hope everyone has enjoyed their week as much as I have. Judging by the number of photos I received of exhausted dogs snoozing afterwards, I'd say there were quite a few happy, tired pups out there! 💤🐶 Although I think there may have been one particularly tired trainer too... 😅

As we head into another brand-new week, I'd just like to say thank you to all of our members for making MAD Dog Club such a fantastic community to be part of.

If you've ever thought about getting involved, our classes are about so much more than obedience. We focus on helping dogs and their humans develop real-life skills, confidence, communication, and engagement. Whether you're looking for structured training, a fun hobby, dog sports such as agility or hoopers, tricks training, mental enrichment, or simply quality time with your dog, there's something for everyone.

Here's to another week of learning, laughter, muddy paws, and making memories with our dogs. ❤️🐾

A little bit late posting this one, but last Sunday Nessie managed to take the win in her Combined Grade 5–7 Agility class, making that two wins towards Grade 7 already! 🎉

It's been an exciting season so far, and I'm really proud of this little dog.

Anyone who has watched us run knows that consistency isn't necessarily our strong point! More often than not, Nessie comes out of the start line like a bat out of hell, and I'm hanging on by the seat of my pants trying to keep up and steer. We have our fair share of faults, eliminations, missed cues and moments where everything seems to unravel in spectacular fashion.....and also amongst those - moments of brilliants.

But then you get those runs.

The ones where the timing is right, the handling clicks, every turn comes together, and somehow the two of you move around the course as one. You cross the finish line with a clear round and that feeling is absolutely unbeatable.

I've been involved in a lot of different dog sports over the years, but nothing quite compares to the buzz of a great agility run.

It's those moments—the ones that remind you why you do it—that keep you coming back for more, despite all the faults, eliminations and near misses along the way.
So we'll take this win, celebrate it, and keep chasing more of those magical runs for the rest of the season. ❤️🐾

Well Nessie.... you're equal parts brilliant, chaotic and addictive to run. 🌟

Huge congratulations to Rita and Leo who had a fab day at Bounce and Squeak Agility, achieving not one but TWO clear rounds and taking the win in Beginners Steeplechase! 🏆🐾

All the hard work, training and perseverance is really paying off, and it’s so lovely to see your confidence and teamwork growing every time you step into the ring. Clear rounds are never guaranteed in agility, so to come away with two and a win is a brilliant achievement.

You should both be incredibly proud of yourselves — very well deserved and exciting to watch your progress! 💙
Well done Rita and Leo! 🎉

☀️ It’s going to be VERY hot again today, so keeping dogs cool has to be the priority. 🐶💦

Luckily, we don’t have any classes on today or tomorrow, as they would have been cancelled anyway due to the heat. Dogs simply do not cope well exercising in these temperatures, and no training session is worth risking their safety.

We’ve even abandoned our own plans for a show today in favour of staying home in the shade with the dogs. 🌳

Please remember: 🐾 Walk early morning or later evening

🐾 Avoid hot pavements and artificial grass
🐾 Provide plenty of fresh, cool water
🐾 Use paddling pools, wet towels, cooling mats, frozen enrichment etc.
🐾 Encourage rest and calm activities instead of high-energy exercise
🐾 NEVER leave dogs in cars — even for a few minutes

Heatstroke can happen frighteningly quickly, especially in active breeds like collies who will often keep going even when they are struggling. It’s our job to advocate for them and make sensible choices. ❤️

There is absolutely no shame in skipping walks, cancelling plans, or staying indoors when temperatures are like this. Mental enrichment, sniffing games, frozen treats, training indoors, and relaxation are far safer options.

Stay safe everyone, and give your dogs a cuddle from us at MAD Dog Club. 🐾💙

Massive congratulations to Janet and Jazz, who achieved their final win at High Peak this weekend, securing their move up to the heights of Grade 6! 🏆🐾

What an amazing achievement and such a testament to all the hard work, consistency and dedication that has gone into your training. It’s been lovely watching your partnership grow and seeing all that hard work paying off in the ring.

I am so incredibly proud of you both and how far you’ve come — very well deserved and very exciting to see what comes next for Team Jazz! 💙

What a busy weekend for our club members at the High Peak Agility Show 🐾💙

Before I even start sharing any results or successes, I just want to say how incredibly proud I am of everybody who went along this weekend. Whether you came home with a placing, a rosette, a qualification, or simply a run that felt better than the last one… every single one of those moments matters.

From everything I saw and heard, the atmosphere at the show was absolutely lovely, and today especially I watched some truly fabulous runs. But more than that, what stood out most was the support and camaraderie between our club members. Helping each other with dogs, walking courses together, cheering each other on from ringside, celebrating the good runs and supporting each other through the tougher ones too. That sense of teamwork and encouragement is what makes this club so special.

Agility is never just about the accolades. It’s about the progress. The tiny improvements. The little moments in the ring where something clicks. The teamwork. The connection. The “we did it!” moments that nobody else may even notice, but mean absolutely everything to you and your dog. Those are the moments that keep us all coming back for more ❤️

I absolutely love this photo of some of the dogs all together whilst camping over at the show too. It perfectly sums up what these weekends are really about — not just the competing, but the friendships, memories, laughter, teamwork, and the dogs we all adore so much.

A huge well done to every single one of you. Proud of you all 🐶🏅💙

Big welcome to our latest recruits joining our Beginner Group at M.A.D Dog Club 🐾

Adolescence can be one of the most challenging stages of dog ownership — distractions increase, listening can become selective, and all those puppy foundations suddenly feel like they’ve disappeared overnight 😅

But this stage is so important. Our adolescent classes focus on building real-life skills, engagement, focus around distractions, calmness, recall, loose lead walking, and helping dogs learn how to make better choices in exciting environments.

We’ve also got a few lovely rescue dogs joining this group who perhaps haven’t always had the best start in life, and their humans are now beginning that journey of building those important foundations.

Foundations matter no matter the age of the dog. Dogs are always capable of learning when given the right support, guidance, and consistency 🖤
We can’t wait to watch this group progress over the coming weeks.

Welcome to the club everyone 🐾

Congratulations to our recent puppy graduates, Aster and Annie! 🐾🎓

Sadly our other puppies couldn’t make the final week, but a huge well done to these two superstars. We’re really impressed by just how far they’ve both come in such a short space of time.

Annie especially has come on brilliantly. Considering how tiny she is, and the fact that in her very first week she spent most of the class snoozing, the progress she has made has been amazing to watch.

Her human has clearly put so much work in between classes, and it really shows.

From building confidence, focus and engagement, through to learning important life skills and appropriate social skills, both puppies have done incredibly well. It’s always lovely seeing owners put the homework in, because that consistency between classes is what really helps puppies thrive.

Very proud of you both and your well-deserved rosettes! 🏵️🐶
