📍 Fostered in Bootle | Age: 16 | Still full of love and ginger cat sass

Meet Simba, our sweet golden oldie with a heart of gold and a purr like a motorbike. At 16 years young, Simba came to us through no fault of his own — left behind when his owners were evicted, and never claimed. Despite his rough start, this gentle lad has shown nothing but love.

🧪 We ran full senior bloodwork expecting the usual – but Simba surprised us all with normal kidney and thyroid results!
He’s got some arthritis and muscle loss in his back legs and around his head, but is responding really well to daily oral Metacam. He’s gained over a kilo since coming into care, and his sparkle is returning fast.

🧸 What Simba needs in a home:

A quiet, cosy place with soft beds and gentle company

A low-sided litter tray and maybe a ramp or two for easy access

Someone familiar with (or willing to learn about) senior cat care

A kind heart that doesn’t mind giving him daily meds and a little extra TLC

😺 His personality?

Affectionate, calm and incredibly sweet

Loves ear rubs, chin scratches, and sleeping nearby

Gives the best headbumps and purrs like a tractor

May gift you a little happy dribble as a thank you for love

And when it’s mealtime? You’ll get a full-on ginger serenade — Simba doesn’t let you forget it’s dinner o’clock!

💊 Please note: Simba’s arthritis and related needs won’t be covered by insurance. You’ll need to keep him on prescribed Metacam and Fortiflora (which keeps his tummy settled). We’ll happily share his medical records with your vet.

How quickly time flies when you are having fun!

Today we are 9 years old!
Huge love and thanks to all our extended family of clients, friends, neighbours and the network of other wonderful catteries who we work so closely with. You have all made the last 9 years so wonderful. We can't wait for more joy caring for your beautiful cats.

How should we celebrate the big 10 next year??

If you are thinking of venturing out tomorrow ( Fri 24th) to see us, please don't feel you have to!🌪🌪🌪

If you owe us a deposit, DON'T WORRY 🧘‍♀️, it will wait a day or two.🙏🏻
If you have dates you are worried will fill up, drop us an email ⌨️, call☎️ or text📱, we are happy to pencil the pen for a couple of days til you can get by to have a look around when it is safer out.

Nothing is so urgent we want anyone to risk being out in the high winds tomorrow just to come to us. So we will keep the gates closed tomorrow and focus our time on making sure all our guests are settled, calm and comfy as we ride out the worst of the bluster.

Please stay safe, keep your cats safe too (we are all over that if they are here) and we will catch you on the other side.

Today we said goodbye to our beautiful Colin.
Colin has been with us here at the Pear Tree since before we even opened arriving in March 2016. He passed last night, just shy of his 9th Birthday.

It will be odd for us not to introduce him to all of you as you pass and I'm sure for you not to wave him a hello as you bring your cats past "Colintopia" when they arrive for a stay. He will be sorely missed.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!

We will be back to normal opening hours from 3pm tomorrow, swing by and see us or drop a call or email to book in your 2025 holidays. Some times are looking busy already so make sure to get your dates in as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

As with so many things, including all of our consumables and bills, we will need to make a change to our pricing in the near future. We will continue to stay as cost effective time as possible while remaining afloat! So book soon to secure the current rate before the increase comes into play! Costs of all confirmed bookings will be unaffected with the increase.

And finally we will be editing out seasonal opening times a tad. From 2025 the cattery will operate by appointment only between November 10th and January 5th every year. The rest of the year reception will be open as usual for drop ins, viewings and any questions, 8-11am and 3-5pm. (Closed Tuesday/Wednesday)

It's December 1st and the Cattery is back to normal opening hours from today.
8-11am and 3-5pm daily (except Tuesday and Wednesday)
If you want to swing by to view, pay a deposit, or just have a chat to answer any questions you may have please feel free.

We will be operating by appointment only again December 16th to January 1st inclusive over the Christmas period and though we are full for Christmas we have a tiiiiiny bit of New Year space left.

Bookings for next year are also rolling in so remember to book as far in advance as your plans allow.

Well beautiful friends of the Pear Tree! It's finally happened! I'm going on Holiday!!! (Can you guess where?)

As always in November the cattery is currently operating by appointment only so if you need to swing by for anything or have a look around ahead of booking please drop us a call or email to arrange.
There will be no viewings or visits available Monday 11th - Friday 22nd November while I am away. Appointment availability resumes on the 23rd and normal opening hours from December 1st.

I will have sporadic access to emails while I am away so will try to respond where I can but please be patient. Any messages left on the phone will be answered on my return.
