Well… this isn’t the post I ever thought I’d be writing.
After a lot of tears, Redbull, and the occasional dramatic meltdown behind the freezers, we’ve made the tough decision to close The Butcher’s Dog.
The honest reason?
Beef. Bloody beef.
The price has gone up so much that even the dogs would shake their heads. We’ve always used proper whole offal — hand-cut, trimmed, and faffed with until it’s perfect. Meanwhile the big companies are quite happy to chuck in every good, bad and questionable bit of cow they can lay their hands on… and buy it cheaply, in mountains.
For us, it means we either:
🐄 Use the same cheap offcuts and ruin our quality (absolutely not)
or
🐄 Stick to our standards and triple the price (also absolutely not)
So instead of selling “The Butcher’s Dog but £45 a tub,” we’ve taken the difficult but honest decision to close.
Final Opening Days
📅 Friday 19th December – 10am to 5pm
(Then as long as you guys haven't already completely cleaned us out by then)...
📅 Saturday 28th December – our final ever day
Your last chance to fill your freezers and pretend January isn’t happening🤣.
I cannot tell you how much I’ve loved meeting your dogs. I know we say “I’ll miss you all”… but genuinely, I will. Every waggy tail, every excited jump through the door, every owner who’s stood chatting with a tub thawing in their hand — I’ll remember every bit of it.🖤
Thank you for supporting a tiny handmade business, for choosing quality, for sticking with us, and for making this journey better than I ever imagined.
You’ve been the best.
Your dogs have been even better. 💚🐾
All the best Jade, Sam, Matt & team ###
