MISINFORMATION- I think we are all aware of social media and the media spouting misinformation, but are you all as aware of it in the animal industry, whether itās selling foods or supplements? The Pet food industry is one of the biggest liars other than big pharmaceutical companies! I recently was scrolling through Facebook and came across an article from pure Pet food company, you know the one you add water to it and it looks like human food and I even think there is a person eat it in one clip, they stated ā dehydrated food is one of the most digestible options for Dogsā donāt get me wrong this claim is not wild, but it states studies have proven this, that sounds like a challenge to me! Somebody in the comments wanted a link to the study so I followed it low and behold it does not go to the study but to a blog, of a reporter who has merely pulled out keywords to make the food look good, unfortunately for the food company I have access to scientific papers through my university. I was able to easily find the paper. After reading the paper thoroughly it was evident that none of these findings were correct and concluded that dry or dehydrated food was equally as good and in fact there was no significant difference found, I have published my findings on their page and I have yet to have a reply.
As a sidenote this paper only used 10 dogs over 40 days, a very small study not representative of any dog population, and it only included laboratory dog beagles, with the ethics committee being from Brazil! Make of that what you will!
PLEASE DO NOT BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ!
More often than not the general public cannot access the scientific papers, so they need to put a full link, you need to look at whoās funding this scientific work as well as sample sizes and reading the conclusion of the data found, not all studies are equal and many biased! I I will enforce clarity and honesty when the evidence is in your face, it is unfair to misrepresent findings of a scientific study to suit your agenda!
