We would love to welcome this little cutie ❤️

Have you ever met a Chiweenie? 🌭

This is Tate, he joined us for his first puppy water confidence swim last week.

He is a cross between a Chihuahua and a Dachshund

This little pup shocked us all with his water confidence and showed that despite his tiny size, he is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to swimming. 💦🌊

As a registered hydrotherapy centre, we are required by our governing body to keep our pool temperature between 28°C – 32°C 🌡️So why is water temperature so important? 👇

🔥 WARM WATER ✔ Relaxes muscles & reduces pain ✔ Improves circulation & healing ✔ Increases joint flexibility ✔ Encourages better movement ✔ Calms anxious or nervous dogs
👉 Best for: Arthritis • Injury recovery • post-surgery rehab • Mobility issues

❄️ COLD WATER (Targeted Use Only) ✔ Reduces swelling & inflammation ✔ Helps with acute injuries ✔ Can ease post-exercise soreness
⚠️ But: ✖ Tightens muscles ✖ Reduces flexibility ✖ Not good for full therapy sessions ✖Reduce blood flow to the joints, worsening arthritis symptoms
👉 Best for: Short-term, targeted injury management (not full hydrotherapy sessions)

What is IVDD?

🐶 Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD) is one of the most common spinal conditions in dogs.

The discs between the bones of the spine normally act as cushions, allowing movement and absorbing shock. With IVDD, these discs degenerate and can press on the spinal cord, causing pain, weakness, or difficulty walking.

💧 Hydrotherapy can help support dogs with IVDD by building muscle, improving mobility, and allowing safe exercise with less pressure on the spine.
