So the owner of the lovely stripey legs is …. this beautiful fjord 😍 well done to Jade French, Samantha Jane Lindsey and Jorunn Veltman for guessing correctly but also Lee Jenkins for advising that actually any breed can have these stripes as it is related to the dun gene or nd1/nd2. I did not know that so that’s something I’ve learnt today 😃

For anyone else who didn’t know that, here’s what Google says…

Dun (D):
The dominant allele that causes a diluted coat color and primitive markings.
Non-dun1 (nd1):
A mutation where the horse's coat color is not diluted by the Dun gene, but primitive markings may still be present.
Non-dun2 (nd2):
Another mutation that results in a non-diluted coat color and no primitive markings. This is the most common non-diluted phenotype in modern horses, according to Generatio.

This lovely lady is looking beautiful after her trim today and quick hose down. At 19 years old she’s looking and feeling fabulous. Only 10 months ago she was suffering from “laminitis” uncomfortable on her feet and in her body and having to spend time in her stall on medication. Now she’s loving life. It’s frog shedding time here!

I’ve had a few horses shed a nice big bit of frog this week. As you can see it’s clearly ready to go so a little nipper off at the last attached bits and then the new frog is sitting clean underneath 👌🏼

New client trim. Top photos are pre trim - this had been trimmed by the previous HCP 5 weeks prior to these photos. Bottom photos are post my trim.

✅ Heels lowered to the HSP
✅ Coronet band angle improved
✅ P3 in a safer position
✅ Toes left alone to recover (as there was not hoof wall on the ground yet at the toe)
✅ Huge bars removed
✅ Hoof balanced
✅ Horse sounder

Look at this lovely hoof…..oh wait, feathers, everywhere!! Thankfully my lovely client bandages these out of the way when I’m trimming and we lift them to take photos 😍 they are beautiful but you literally cannot see the hooves through them!
