Dill is a Barbet, a very old French breed (Barbe means beard in French). He's only a youngster and did well for his first full groom. Just a trim to take off some of the extra length. Plus clear his eyes so he can see! They should look quite rustic in appearance and not too 'coiffured' ! Bit of an epic job though. 🤪

Hercules the border terrier in for one of his twice annual handstrips. 💕 😊

Darcy resembled a rug when she came in. Went out looking like a cavapoo again. Insisted on sticking her tongue out for nearly ever picture. 🤪 🥰

Winnie the cockapoo. Always a happy girl and isn't phased by this grooming lark. 🥰 👍

Coco the border collie having a snooze as she dries off under the blower. She's missing a few teeth hence her tongue is often hanging out! 😂 🥰

Only an occasional visit from Poppy the labradoodle for a tidy up. 💕 🙂

Rothko the maltipoo. Just an emmipet teeth clean and light trim this time. 🥰

Dash the Tibetan Terrier or commonly referred to as a TT. He's in a modified full coat. So not long to the floor and the face is clear. We also cut his belly hair short to reduce the brushing required. So he has curtains front, back and sides. 🤣 If you open them there's nothing behind!

Stanley the cavapooshon in desperate need of a hair cut 🥹 😉

Finley is a collie x whippet. He's a bit of an anxious boy and isn't keen on other dogs. Hence why he's always in training. 💕

Nesta (schnauzer) and Martha (mini labradoodle). They're both small enough to share the bath and table for some of the groom. 🐾 🛁

Trixie and Bess were two collie cross dogs which I grew up with during the 1970s. Trixie was my grandparents dog and Bess her daughter, who belonged to my aunt and uncle.
Trixie wasn’t supposed to have puppies but she had a habit of taking herself for a walk down to the beach in Paignton and wasn’t spayed (this was the 1970s remember). She had three puppies, two boys and Bess which my aunt and uncle kept.
Like many people who train as a pet groomer, it’s a second career. My first one being a graphic designer (which I still do at k-creative).
As a child I was always interested in animals and looked at working with them as a career. But decided I wasn’t intelligent enough to be a vet and it was too hard to make a living working with horses.
I never considered pet grooming as an option at the time. I don’t think it was even thought of as a career back then. So I opted for design instead.
Fast forward a good few years and after over 25+ years in design I decided I wanted to do something else and preferably with animals. So I had a light bulb moment... how about pet grooming.
After completing City & Guilds training* at Chichester College I’ve now been grooming for three years and am set up as a mobile in-house pet groomer. With plans to eventually open my own home-based parlour, offer more services and take on more pets.
* City & Guilds Level 2 Dog Grooming Assistant & Level 3, Part 1, Certificate in Introductory Dog Grooming. Level 3, Part 2, Diploma in Professional Dog Grooming completion expected for April 2020
