We are delighted to offer this outstanding 16.1hh, 10-year-old Belgian Draft gelding – a true gentle giant with a heart of gold. He is the ultimate confidence-giver, making him an ideal candidate for RDA, riding schools, family homes, or anyone seeking a safe, weight-carrying steed with a big heart.
This lovely boy has previously worked in a French RDA centre, where he proved himself to be kind, patient, and reliable with riders of varying abilities. He is also hoist trained, making him perfectly suited to therapeutic or assisted riding environments.
He is genuinely bombproof out hacking – happily plodding along alone or in company, unfazed by traffic, farm machinery, dogs, or the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Safety is his standout quality – he looks after his rider at all times and gives a secure, comfortable ride, making him perfect for nervous, novice, or less experienced riders.
In the arena, he does the basics with a steady walk, trot, and canter, proving willing and straightforward. While not a competition horse nor is he built for the arena, he is honest and happy to go in a simple snaffle, and takes care of his rider.
As you would expect from a Belgian Draft, he is a fantastic weight carrier with plenty of bone and strength, yet remains light in the hand and incredibly kind. His calm nature, combined with his previous RDA experience and hoist training, make him perfectly suited to RDA or therapeutic work, where his patience and gentleness really shine.
He is also broken to drive, adding to his versatility and making him suitable for pleasure driving as well as ridden work.
He has previously done logging & has featured at county shows doing ploughing exhibitions.
On the ground, he is an absolute pleasure. Easy to catch, handle, and manage, he loves attention and a good fuss. He is good to groom, bath, tack up, and is no trouble for the farrier – stands quietly to have his feet lifted and trimmed (barefoot).
He is happy living in or out and settles well into any routine. He mixes well in a herd with both mares and geldings and is not dominant or troublesome.
