Barney's Dog Boarding & Day Care

Barney's Dog Boarding & Day Care 5 Star Licenced and Fully Insured Dog Boarding and Day Care from our family home in Bitterne Park Southampton

Our dog boarding and day care business is run from our dog friendly home in Bitterne Park, Southampton. We live very near to Riverside Park which has lot of open space for dogs to run and play and there is good access to the river if they want to swim or just have a paddle. We have a fully fenced garden and plenty of space if your dog wants some quite time. All dogs are treated as family and will

receive lots of love and attention. We do our best to keep to their usual routine whilst you are at work or away on holiday and we take into account their usual sleeping place whether that be in a crate, in their own bed, on our sofa or upstairs with us. We have a 7-year-old Chocolate Labrador X Springer Spaniel called Barney that we rescued from a local dog rescue charity when he was 3 years old. Since then, we have made many friends with lovely dogs and we now go on lovely pack walks at weekends in woodlands in and around Southampton. Barney’s Dog Boarding was created out of our love for dogs and they seem to love us too. We were very often asked to look after dogs for friends and people that we met on our walks so we decided to turn our love of dogs into a business. We have also just started to foster dogs for a local dog charity in the hope that we can help them prepare for their forever homes. All dogs must be fully vaccinated and up to date with any flea/worm treatment.
*We cannot accept un-neutered males unless under 6 months old*

🌹 It was goodbye to one Rosie (little Ickle Rosie ❀️) and hello to another as gorgeous Rosie the Sproodle arrived for another holiday with our Rosie. It's like we've got a Rosie exchange programme!
🐢 We were also joined by handsome George, who came to spend the day with the two Rosies, Willow and Monty.
🌿 We headed to the park where everyone made the most of the river... well, almost everyone! George firmly believes water is for drinking, not swimming, so he stayed nice and dry while the others splashed about. πŸ˜‚
🌲Willow found an enormous fir cone and proudly paraded around with it like she'd just won the world's biggest woodland trophy. πŸŒ²πŸ† Monty made the most of the open space with some fantastic zoomies, while Rosie the Sproodle's excitement reached full turbo mode the moment the tennis balls appeared. 🎾
George had his own very special tennis ball... which our Rosie decided clearly belonged to her instead! She kept pinching it at every opportunity, much to poor George's annoyance. Safe to say there were a few funny looks and plenty of laughs. πŸ™ˆπŸ€£

We had such a lovely walk yesterday that we decided to head back to the conservation area again today for Ickle Rosie's final walk of her holiday. πŸ₯° She's been an absolute pleasure to have stay with us and has been such a sweet, well-behaved little girl. We'll definitely miss her!
🌿 Milo and Ralphy joined Monty, Willow, Rosie and Ickle Rosie for another adventure, and all the new smells must have been irresistible because Milo and Ralphy both came down with a serious case of the zoomies! 🀣 Ralphy was so busy sniffing every blade of grass and investigating every interesting scent that he barely seemed to notice his girlfriend Willow was even there.
πŸͺ΅ The great stick competition was back on too! 🌳 Willow and Monty were determined to outdo each other once again. Monty shamelessly pinched sticks straight out of Willow's mouth, then decided to raise the stakes by dragging an enormous branch through the woods. He insists that makes him the winner... Willow says that dragging a huge branch is like using heavy machinery, which isn't allowed, so it's definitely cheating! πŸ˜‚
πŸ’¦ We wandered down to the stream where everyone enjoyed a cooling paddle. Monty, Rosie and Ralphy got completely carried away, charging through the water and sending splashes everywhere. Even Ickle Rosie had a little paddle, although I'm fairly sure that was only because I was standing on the other side and she wasn't about to let a bit of water stop her getting to me! πŸ₯°
We stayed by the stream for quite a while because it was so lovely and cool, and watching everyone having so much fun was the perfect way to spend the morning. Surrounded by beautiful trees, peaceful woodland and a fabulous gang of happy, well-behaved dogs... it really doesn't get much better than that. ❀️🐾

What an adventure Rosie, Willow, Monty and Ickle Rosie (as we now call her) had today! 🐾🌿
🌳 We decided to explore a brand new walking spot with a series of woodland fishing lakes. It was a lovely circular route with one huge lake in the middle, complete with lots of ducks happily paddling about. πŸ’¦ Willow and Rosie were less than impressed to discover there wasn't a proper place to launch themselves in for a swim, but once we realised they were fishing lakes it all made perfect sense! They did eventually find a tiny little spot for a quick dip, but it definitely wasn't worthy of a full Spaniel review. ⭐⭐
🐾 After completing the walk much quicker than expected, we jumped back in the car and headed to one of our old favourite ancient woodlands. We've avoided it for a long time after Forestry England's thinning work left the paths churned up by heavy machinery, but we were delighted to find everything accessible again. Even better, hundreds of young saplings have been planted, so it's lovely to see the woodland beginning its next chapter.
πŸͺ΅ Willow and Monty were thrilled to discover an endless supply of sticks... although "stick" might be stretching it. Their chosen prizes were closer to small tree trunks, and carrying them became today's unofficial competition! πŸŒ³πŸ˜‚
🌿 It was Rosie's first visit to these woods and she set off like a dog with an important appointment, determined to inspect every path, fern and fallen log. Ickle Rosie matched everyone's enthusiasm perfectly, happily sniffing her way through the woodland and proving that little legs can keep up with the biggest adventures.
πŸ₯° Safe to say it was a lucky crew who enjoyed such an adventurous morning. As for me, being surrounded by peaceful woodland is always good for the soul πŸ’š πŸ™

🌳 Another wonderful woodland adventure today with Milo and Ralphy joining Monty, Willow, Rosie and little Rosie. We explored an area we haven't visited for a while, and what a difference we found.
🌲 Forestry England have been busy with the necessary thinning to encourage new growth, but it's always a little heartbreaking to see afterwards. Our beautiful woodland looks so different, with familiar landmark trees gone and many of the paths almost unrecognisable. It does leave quite a mess, although the dogs certainly didn't see it that way! Every fallen tree, log pile and freshly disturbed patch of forest brought a whole new world of exciting smells. Even we couldn't resist stopping to appreciate the wonderful scent of the timber.
πŸͺ΅ Rosie, Monty and Ralphy decided the log piles were perfect for a spot of mountain climbing, but they came straight down the moment I asked. Such good dogs. ❀️
πŸ₯° Milo, our handsome senior gentleman, was quite content taking life at his own pace, enjoying every wonderful sniff along the way. He always looks so happy, and it's impossible not to smile watching him happily potter through the woods.
🌹 Little Rosie looked absolutely tiny beneath the giant redwood trees towering overhead, and we were all relieved to see those magnificent giants still standing. 🌳 She may be the smallest member of today's gang, but nobody seems to have told her. She marched through the woods like she was leading a pack of wolves, her little legs working overtime just to keep everyone in line! πŸ˜‚
πŸ‘‘ Monty and Willow were crowned King and Queen of the Stick Hunt today, proudly carrying their treasured finds through the woods, while Ralphy persuaded Willow into a game of chase, sending clouds of woodland dust flying behind them πŸ’¨
πŸ“· And, of course, our Rosie couldn't resist striking a pose on every log she came across. She makes it very difficult not to take "just one more photo"... and judging by today's album, I wasn't very successful! ❀️🐾😊

Gorgeous boy Monty Moo has arrived for another holiday! 🀎
🐻 Monty will always hold a special place in our hearts not only because he was our very first boarder but also because Barney absolutely adored him. The two of them could often be found sharing the sofa side by side or charging around together having the best time. Seeing Monty again is a bittersweet reminder of our beautiful Barney, bear but it's also such a joy to welcome him back πŸ™
🌹 Rosie gave him the full "welcome committee" treatment with lots of excited barking, while little Rosie joined in too. Although, judging by her determined little face, I think she was mostly giving Monty a quick briefing on who's really in charge around here! πŸ‘‘πŸΆ Willow was also delighted to see her friend again, and the gang headed off for a countryside adventureπŸͺ΅πŸŒ³
🌾Monty was in his element, racing through the fields with the biggest goofy grin plastered across his face. Willow and Rosie happily joined the zoomie squad, while little Rosie sensibly brought up the rear at her own pace, avoiding all the flying paws. πŸ˜‚
πŸͺ΅ We wandered through the woods and down to the river, although thanks to this relentless heatwave there's barely any water left. We could really do with some rain... preferably overnight though! Knowing us Brits, if it rains during the day we'll all be complaining that it's too wet! 🌦️🀣
🌳 On the way back we stopped in the shade for a well earned drink. A lovely cool breeze had picked up, so we treated everyone by getting the balls out. Rosie and Monty were beside themselves with excitement and did their best to keep up with supersonic Willow. Good job we packed two balls because they didn't stand a chance of beating her otherwise! βš½πŸ’¨ Little Rosie was more than happy to sit this one out and watch from a safe distance rather than get caught in the furry stampede. πŸ˜†
πŸ’¦ To finish off the walk, everyone enjoyed a lovely cooling splash in the pond... well, everyone except little Rosie, who decided staying dry was the far more sensible option! ❀️🐾

🌹 Little Rosie, Willow and our Rosie had a lovely morning adventure around the park today. 🌳🐾
πŸ’¦ The river was the main event, with Willow and our Rosie launching straight into splash mode and chasing sticks like it was an Olympic final.
🐾 Meanwhile, little sausage Rosie spent a few moments negotiating with herself before bravely crossing the bridge, carefully making her way down the bank and onto the gravel riverbed. After a quick inspection of the water, she decided a paddle was acceptable... but only if it didn't involve getting too wet! πŸ˜‚πŸ’¦
🌳 After all that excitement, we escaped into the shade of the trees where noses took over and every leaf, twig and interesting smell needed a full investigation. A perfect morning with three very happy girls. ❀️🐢

Full house today as lovely Willow joined us for her holiday! 🐾 Kai came to spend the day with Rosie and little Rosie, while Frankie and Ralphy joined us for our woodland adventure. Three girls and three boys, and every one of them was amazing as always. ❀️
🌳 We started off in the woods with plenty of exploring and sniffing. Rosie, Frankie and their friend Blue weren't content with just sniffing the surface. They were determined to dig for roots instead, leaving themselves with wonderfully dirty noses and paws! πŸͺ΅ Kai was thrilled to be back after missing his usual Wednesday daycare and loved exploring the woods before proudly finding a stick for his favourite game of "Tap Tap" on Steve's legs. Safe to say Steve enjoyed it slightly less than Kai did! πŸ˜‚
🦑 Willow entertained us with her usual running through the long grass before perfecting her famous "stalking badger" impression. Ralphy was over the moon that his girlfriend Willow was there and couldn't contain his excitement, tearing around with the biggest zoomies🌾
🌹 Little Sausage Rosie wasn't missing out either. She threw herself into every game of chase with those tiny little legs working overtime, somehow convinced she was the fastest dog in the field! πŸ˜‚
🐁 Meanwhile, Frankie was so busy searching for field mice that he didn't even notice everyone charging around until he looked up and thought, "I'm joining that!" 🀣
🌿 Our Rosie was so happy to be back in the fields with all her friends after her holiday. She spent the whole walk with the biggest smile on her face, happily joining in with whatever everyone else was up to. πŸ₯° πŸ’¦ Willow also gave us the laugh of the day when she charged over to the huge water tubs, fully expecting to leap straight in... only to discover the farmer had turned them upside down! The look of confusion on her face had us all laughing. 🀣
🌞Just when we thought we'd escaped the walk without anyone getting muddy despite the incredibly dry weather, Spaniel brains had other ideas! πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ Ralphy and Rosie somehow managed to sniff out the only muddy ditch for miles and, naturally, decided it looked like the perfect place for a paddle. We definitely weren't expecting muddy dogs today, but those two clearly hadn't read the plan! 🀣 Thankfully, the pond at the end of the walk provided a handy pre-rinse before everyone climbed back into the car and headed home πŸ˜‚πŸΎ

❓️What do you get when Ralphy, George, Rosie and little Rosie spend the day together at the park?
❀️ A day full of fun, splashes and just a little bit of chaos! 🀣🐾
George was in his element because park days mean one very important thing... BALL! πŸ€ He proudly carried it around for almost the entire walk.
πŸ’¦ Meanwhile, Ralphy and our Rosie embraced their inner water babies, making the most of every splash in the river. Rosie then decided that every stick and ball in the park was clearly part of her collection. If another dog was playing fetch, she'd race over to "help" by pinching the stick or making off with the ball! πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚ I think we need to have a little chat about doggy etiquette... and the importance of not interrupting other dogs' games!
🌹 Little Rosie was over the moon to see her Aunty Amy and her lovely friend Willow. She greeted them with happy squeals, excited bounces and so much enthusiasm that she could barely contain herself. πŸ₯°πŸ’•
🐾 As if that wasn't enough, our Rosie finished the walk by launching herself onto the bench for cuddles, leaving a lovely collection of muddy paw prints all over my clean T-shirt. Apparently that's her way of saying, "I love you!"... or maybe, "You missed a bit of mud!" 🀎🐾🀣
🌞 Just another perfectly normal day with this wonderful bunch. I wouldn't have it any other way! ❀️🐢

A lovely morning at the nature reserve today with a full group! 🐾πŸͺ΅πŸŒ³
πŸ’™ Gorgeous boys Milo, Bailey and Ralphy joined lovely girls Rosie, Bo and little Rosie for a fun-filled adventure 🌸
Six happy dogs, lots of wagging tails and plenty of sniffing made for the perfect walk.
🐿 Bo was determined to keep an eye out for squirrels today and even climbed part way up a tree in the hope of spotting one! πŸͺ΅Meanwhile, Rosie hopped onto every tree stump she could find, striking a pose as if she knew a photo would earn her a tasty treat. πŸ“ΈπŸ₯° She's definitely mastered that game!
🌹 Little Rosie was full of confidence today, happily leading the way with her new friends and exploring everything around her. She's settled in brilliantly already and it was lovely to see her enjoying herself so much. ❀️
🦊 Well... almost perfect! 🀣 Princess Bo later emerged from the woods looking rather pleased with herself, but also absolutely covered in the most pungent fox poo. πŸ’©πŸ˜³ Nobody actually witnessed the crime, but the evidence was impossible to ignore. She had clearly performed the classic shoulder dip and roll in something soft and brown! Needless to say, it was straight into the bath as soon as we got home. πŸ›
🌾 Rosie and Ralphy also kept themselves busy decorating their coats with sticky seeds, which seems to be one of their favourite hobbies.
πŸ€ Bailey and Milo were over the moon when we stopped in a shady spot for a drink and the balls came out for a quick game on the green. Their excitement was infectious!
❀️ A fantastic group of dogs who were all so incredibly well behaved... mostly! πŸ€πŸ¦ŠπŸ’©

🌹🌹 Double the Rosie, double the fun🌹🌹 We had not one, but two Rosies on today's adventure! 🐾 Cute little Rosie has come to stay with us for her very first holiday, while our own Rosie was delighted to welcome her. They were joined by lovely girl Bo, who has come back for another sleepover, making the cutest trio of girls πŸ’ž
🌳The girls enjoyed a lovely walk through the woods with their friends, taking in all the exciting sights and smells along the way. There were plenty of wagging tails, happy zoomies and curious noses at work. Every time I called "Rosie!", both girls would stop and look at me, each wondering which one I meant! 🩷
🐾 A wonderful first adventure together, with lots more holiday memories still to come. 🐢🌿
