🦔 Hedgehog Awareness Week 🦔

Did you know these prickly little garden visitors need our help now more than ever?

Hedgehogs are in decline across the UK, but with a few simple changes, your garden can become a safe haven for them. Helping to protect one of our most loved british Wildlife species 💚

Here are a few easy ways you can support them:

🍂Leave a wild corner of fallen leaves and overgrown hedgerow in your garden
💦Add a shallow dish of fresh water (NOT MILK) keeping it topped up daily especially in hot weather. But please make sure that if the hedgehog falls into it they can get out easily (this can be done by making sure its not too deep or by putting a stone/rock at the side for them to climb onto then climb out)
🏠Create a hedgehog house with cosy bedding such as dry leaves, hay and straw inside
❌Avoid pesticides and slug pellets- if ingested these can kill hedghogs and other wildlife
🥅 Keep netting at least 30cm above the ground to prevent entanglement and pack away any that is unused into a shed or storage area
☘️Always check garden throughly for sleeping headgehogs before starting gardening work such as strimming, hedge cutting or mowing the lawn
🦔 leave out headgehog appropriate food in a shallow bowl to provide them with food if what they would eat naturally is low or to give them an extra up if feeding young.

This week’s new product in store is….

The Anti Struvit diet from Dr Clauders

This wet cat food has been specially formulated to support cats that are prone to getting bladder (struvite) crystals and stones

Cats developing Struvite crystals and stones is becoming more and more common especially in cats who eat an all dry food diet. Which is why it’s important to feed your cat some wet food alongside their kibble as it increases their moisture intake to help support their urinary tract and as well as their kidneys.

Struvite is a urinary mineral composed of ammonium, phosphate and magnesium. If these become to high in concentrations they bind together in the form of crystals leading ti stones 🐾

Struvite then leads to irritation and inflammation of the urinary tract and in extreme cases a blocked urethra 🐈‍⬛

Dr Clauders Anti-Struvite diet was specifically designed to help dissolve Struvite crystals that have already formed and acidify urine and control PH to reduce the risk of more crystals or stones from developing.
