We wanted to do a quick update on little miss Cherry-pie πŸ•

πŸ˜•Poor Cherry really does have bad luck ...

Coming into kennels the way she did really shut her down and it took some time for our carers to bring her out of her shell 🧑
Although she is now amazing meeting new people out and about, she can still struggle with having people approaching her in her safe spaces, which is why we have been trying to find the quiet home with a family that understands her when the time is right...🧑

Sadly luck has not been on Cherry's side and she's already been through so much since coming to us just last year she went through kennel shutdown, tail operation (inverted corkscrew tail), neutering, adopter ghosting us days before she was going to be adopted after having multiple meets and home check completed and then to top it off her kidney issues that started the end of of last year ....

We so hoped this year her luck would turn around and she'd finally be in the loving home she so deserves ....

But Cherry's bad luck continued with lameness in her back legs, x-rays later confirmed she had developed cruciate ligament injury on both her legs, with her right one being quiet bad (even though it was mostly the left one she would hold up!)

We really hoped we could avoid surgery due to the risks especially with her kidneys but sadly her legs are just too bad. We took her to a specialist who said especially her right one with pretty much every movement it is dislocating and will be causing pain and wear πŸ˜₯

With her kidney issues pain management is difficult and not really an option as this girl is one of the most active bulldogs we've ever met and her quality of life is limited while she's stuck not being able to do her normal activities! Recovery may take awhile but successful surgeries would greatly improve her quality of life so she can get back to being the energetic active girl she is!!
So after lots of consideration and discussing options with our team, vets and the specialists we have booked her in and we are taking the risk to give her the quality of life she deserves where she can be happy and hopefully pain-free.
We will be working closely with our vets and doing everything we can to help Cherry with her recovery but we really need your help too!

Before we even add the cost of Cherry's surgeries our vet bill so far this year is already an massive £13500!!! 🀯😱
Just for Cherry's first surgery it will add another Β£2880
If anyone would be able to help please donate using the link below or reference "vet costs"

We know times are really difficult for many at the moment but just £1 from each of our supporters really makes such a huge difference to the lives in our care! 🧑

We really hate having to ask but if anyone could help by donating towards our vet bill costs we would be so incredibly grateful! πŸ™πŸΌ

The donations we recieve always go straight into helping us care for our animals, as a Sanctuary we do everything we can to support the animals in our care and give them the best lives possible and we are only able to do our work thanks to all our absolutely amazing supporters!! πŸ₯°πŸ§‘
