I haven't updated on here for ages as I haven't really had the season I planned. Sam spade moved up to novice but to be honest it was a bit of a wing and a prayer so he has spent the last few months establishing his jumping and flat work. He will go to Oasby and then have a winter jumping. I made the decision to sell Popular choice. This was hard as he was probably my favourite horse on the ground and I know he's so talented, however I just couldn't ride him well enough. He's gone to my good friend Dan Megson who rides his beautifully. I have in the meantime bought a new one - Mr Paddy Patrick, he's very green so time will tell but he's heading in the right direction. Lomoto is off to camp to learn to do his changes. There's no point me eventing him at three star level until he dies these as this horse could have a top twenty finish when he's on form. Most of the season this year for him has been a bit of a write off due to issues with having a tooth removed. Mystic Promise has hung up his dressage saddle and will never have to wear it again (Even though it's a lovely Ryder one!) and has retired from eventing with me. Him and I are off to the opening meet this weekend. He will continue to show jump as well as he's a good diesel horse! On the sponson front one of my sponsors has had a rebrand so check out Equestrizone if you have a minute. The Miah Solicitors are still fighting the good fight and taking on new clients so do bear them in mind if you need any help and lastly Ryder Saddles have lots of lovely new products. Below is a lovely picture someone took of Sam this year eventing and one of the new one Patrick.

A few events to update from but life has been hectic ( mostly with Ryder saddles which is a good thing!) a couple of weeks ago I went to Nunney to do a two start on Mo and Pops, let's just say we a achieved what needed doing! last week I went to Gt whichingam where I had a lovely 3 am start. Anyway it was worth it as Mo did an ok test for 32 a steady dbl clear to finish 7th in an int. Pops had jut 1 pole and clocked up another int clear. He now has to start learning to gallop! Young Sam did a fab clear Xc in what was quite a bold course for a first time novice and just one down jumping. Yesterday he popped up the road to Buckmimster where he did another novice, sadly the dressage judge wasn't keen on me but never mind he was never going to be fast as I'm spending my time slowing this one down not up! He did another clear Xc so he's heading in the right direction. Now I need to do a few entries and get pops and Sam ready for Burgham. Seeing all the combines out makes me think the event season is now in the latter half.....it seems two minutes since Oasby. Yesterday I dug deep and bought a picture of the lovely Sam Spade as I don't have one of him. Many thanks to everyone who helps me and my generous sponsors. The Miah Solicitors , Ryder Saddles and Pegasus Health.

Been a while since I have posted but not a lot to report. Chatsworth didn't quite go my way and Lomoto is off work with a virus but he's looking a lot better as will start work this week. Rockingham was a good day for Sam Spade with a 28 dbl clear in the 100. Popular choice did a lovely Xc clear in the int. Friday was a day at arena uk which was a good day but a four faults day! Pops jumped his first fox hunter and Sam jumped his first 1.05 so delighted with the both. This Sunday they went to Bishop Burton where Sam finished 4th in a 100 and Pops came 14th in a very bold intermediate. No eventing next weekend but show jumping somewhere. Many thanks to my long suffering sponsors and super mum! The Miah Solicitors Pegasus Health and Ryder Saddles.

A quiet weekend over the bank holiday with just a trip out to do the unaff ode at Epworth with Sam Spade round the BE 100 course. He was a good boy doing a lovely dressage of 32, 1 pole down jumping and a nice steady double clear. He's been a bit unsettled xc so I'm just taking him steady for a while and settling him.
Keyso this weekend but I don't think it's going to rain so we shall have to see who does what there. Sam having his picnic after he finished.

Not updated for a few weeks as been very busy. Burnham Market was mixed with Mystic Promise getting a well placed seventh in the strongest OI I have ever done with. He completed on a score of 31 which tells you how strong it was. Unfortunately Lomoto thought I wanted a closer inspection of the ditch in the three star after a great dressage and clear jumping! He's now off to keyso and then Chatsworth. Popular choice was fab in his second int and popped round xc. Last weekend I took Sam Spade to Horsehealth, what a lovely event. He did a great dressage and jumping but it wasn't quite his day. xc. Once again thanks to my lovely kind sponsors. The The Miah Solicitors, Ryder Saddles and Pegasus Health.

Yesterday I took Sam Spade to Norton Disney for his first BE 100. He was very fresh as he hasn't been out since Oasby but he held it together in the dressage, did a lovely clear jumping and xc. ( but his co pilot got him a 20! Oops - jockey sacked!)
Last week I took Popular Choice to Belton for his first intermediate, we were never going to be competitive and I didn't think he wld get round, anyway he was a star and popped round to the keyhole then spooked! He did complete and I was so proud of him as it was a strong course. The horse I could be competitive on - Lomoto, I went that fast I missed a skinny 😂even with a twenty he still only picked up 10 time faults so proof there's a bit of life left in me! On Friday it's of to Burnham Market where I think we could do with a drop of rain. Below is a picture of me and Sam Spade and my lovely sponsors logos. The Miah Solicitors, Pegasus Health and Ryder Saddles. Thank you so much. 😀

A great couple of days at Great Whichingham horse trials in Norfolk with Lomoto and Mystic Promise. The ground, weather and course were all fantastic which in this country is rare! Mo was competing in the intermediate section and Toby was in the Open intermediate section. Both did OK dressage tests with Toby even managing a squeak! Which makes for a bit of a disappointing dressage mark but is normally followed by a double clear which he delivered. This was the first time i had taken him in a snaffle xc and he felt great and really in the hand. Next time i'm going to take of the martingale as it really interfered with my reins, (as you can see in the picture) i hope that is a good decision! Mo was let down by his jockey in the show jumping and we knocked down one pole but he went and did a lovely steady round clear xc and was a good boy on the ground this week. Hopefully as the weeks go on I will get braver and faster XC. However with such a lot of time off and coming back from injury it does take a while. Many thanks to the Miah Solicitors for their help and support this year . Also thanks to Pegasus Health for keeping my horses tuned up and looking fit and healthy!

A good weekend at Oasby horse trials with three horses having their first run since last July and baby Sam his second ever event. To come back from a big operation and still not to full strength and ride four was no mean feat! Thanks to everyone who helped me this weekend and my generous sponsors the The Miah Solicitors , Pegasus health and Ryder saddles.

First event at Epworth yesterday - which is an event I would really recommend, perfect going, quiet dressage and jumping on a surface. I took Sam Spade to his first event and he managed to behave himself! Which for an ex race horse is always a good start. Here is a short clip of him setting off Xc. I think he's a brave one. Thanks to the Miah Solicitors and Pegasus health for their support. Fingers crossed Oasby goes ahead this week where all the other horses have some work to do.
