Established in 2016 Pawsome Adventures formerly Katie's pet care is a bespoke, personal and loving pet care business offering dog walking, pet sitting, animal call-ins and unique experience days. I have gained and animal welfare and behaviour degree and have over 6 years animal handling/care experience with all forms of pets from horses to guinea pigs! I offer obedience training, sitting, boarding, walking and call ins to give you peace of mind when ever you have to leave your pet :)

💛 A little life update...

If you've noticed we've been a little quieter than usual over the last few weeks, it's because there's been a lot happening behind the scenes.

We've battled the heatwave, said goodbye to Danny's wonderful nan, celebrated her life at her funeral, and in amongst it all, Danny has moved in with me. It's been an emotional and very busy few weeks, so social media has understandably taken a bit of a back seat.

I just wanted to say a huge thank you to my incredible support system, and especially to all of my amazing clients in our WhatsApp group. Your kindness, patience and understanding have meant more than you'll ever know, and I'm so grateful to have such wonderful people around me.

Despite being a little quiet online, it's been business as usual behind the scenes! We've still been out every day, making memories, having adventures, and giving your wonderful dogs the very best lives. 🐾❤️

So I thought I'd share a little collection of some of our favourite moments from the last few weeks, because although social media paused for a while, the fun certainly didn't!

With things finally settling down a little, normal service is now resuming, and I can't wait to get back to sharing all of our adventures with you.

Thank you all, as always, for your continued support. It truly never goes unnoticed. 🥰

☀️ A little summer safety reminder for fellow dog walkers and dog owners. ☀️

Please don't fall into the trap of thinking a crate fan will keep your dog cool in the car, I made exactly the same mistake years ago because, like many people, I assumed if a fan cools us down, it must cool our dogs too.

The reality is that fans cool humans and dogs very differently.

We cool ourselves by sweating, a fan helps evaporate that sweat, which lowers our body temperature.

Dogs, however, don't sweat like we do. They mainly cool themselves by panting and fan simply moves the existing air around them. If that air is already warm, all you're doing is blowing warm air at your dog.

What dogs actually need is:
🐾 A constant supply of fresh, cooler air
🐾 Good ventilation
🐾 Air conditioning or another genuine cooling source when travelling in warm weather

In my own vehicle, I'm fortunate to have incredibly powerful air conditioning, which keeps the whole cabin cool before, during and after every journey. The crate fan is now only there to help circulate that already cool, air-conditioned air into every part of the crate,it is not what keeps the dogs cool.

Even with excellent air conditioning, I'm always looking for ways to reduce heat build-up. I've recently invested in a windscreen sunshade for when I'm parked, along with additional window sunshades on top of my already tinted rear windows, these are all extremely cheap and easy to buy. Every little step helps reduce the amount of heat entering the vehicle and creates a more comfortable environment for the dogs.

It's such an easy misconception to have, and I completely understand why people buy crate fans. I did too. But after learning more about canine heat regulation, I realised they're not a substitute for proper cooling.

With the warmer weather here, let's all keep learning, adapting and sharing good information. We all want the same thing—to keep our dogs as safe and comfortable as possible. ❤️🐶

As an American sports fan, I've basically been training for this moment my entire life. Late night heartbreak?That's usually my speciality....

However the England vs Mexico game was genuinely one of the best games of football I've watched in a long time, and the most stress I've left past 4am in years 🤣🔥⚽

Then, after all the red card shenanigans and the football gods having to correct Trump's little intervention... watching Belgium absolutely dismantle the USA last night brought me a level of peace I didn't know I needed. 🇧🇪😂

Unfortunately, the lack of sleep did have one small side effect...

It even pays my mortgage, my holidays, and yes... it's my big girl job.

Funny how some people still look down their nose at dog walkers, as if running a successful business, keeping dozens of dogs safe and happy every day, and earning an honest living somehow isn't a "real job."

Anyway... I've got some very important meetings with my doodles to attend. 🐾
