Hello to our lovely clients. Just another gentle reminder we are on holiday from Monday 6th - Sunday 14th June 😎☀️ it will be our first proper holiday since we launched Milton Paws and safe to say it is well deserved and very much needed. During these dates we will not be able to offer day care, boarding, walks, drop in visits or respond to any messages. Thank you🐶🐾 remember to make alternative arrangements in good time if needed with other trusted, licensed and insured professionals. We will be more than happy to recommend people (availability dependant)

At Milton Paws, we always aim to provide the highest standard of one-to-one home boarding and doggy day care. Since launching our business, we’ve learned a huge amount about what works best — not only for our clients, but most importantly for the dogs in our care.

As a growing start-up, we wanted to help everyone and found it difficult to say no. In doing so, we realise we didn’t always have the clear boundaries and policies needed to maintain the premium, personalised service we set out to offer from the beginning.

We want to thank all of our clients for their patience and support while we’ve found our feet and refined our approach.

Moving forward, we are making important changes to ensure Milton Paws consistently delivers the calm, luxury one-to-one experience we are proud of:

• Once we are fully booked, we will not be taking additional same-day bookings
• All new dogs will go through a more thorough assessment process before being accepted as permanent clients
• We will continue expanding our drop-in visit and house sitting services for owners looking for alternative care options

These changes are being made with the wellbeing of the dogs at the centre of every decision. We are not a high-volume daycare, and we never want to be. Our focus is on providing a calm, safe, home-from-home environment where every dog receives the attention, care, and routine they deserve.

Running a small independent business comes with a steep learning curve, and while the last few months have been challenging at times, we are incredibly committed to building Milton Paws into the trusted, high-quality service we know it can be.

Thank you again to everyone who has supported us on this journey so far — we truly appreciate every single one of you.

Please always remember to 🐱🐾🐶

Licensed professionals will always have their license number clearly on display across social media platforms, pet sitting apps, marketing materials and clearly on display in their premises.

If unsure, always make sure to ask to see it and if they can't prove it, report it to your local authority.

Let's end illegal home boarding.

Highlighting the importance or ensuring you check your home boarders licence…….

It is with great sadness that I share this information. This death could have been avoided. One family no longer has their beloved dog due to using an unlicenced home boarder.

(Copied from another group, just so sad 😞)

This weekend a heartbreaking incident saw a dog lose its life from heat stroke whilst in the care of an unlicensed home boarder. 💔

The boarder lied and said they were licensed 🤬🤬🤬

It’s a devastating reminder of why choosing a LICENSED home boarding service matters so much.

Licensed boarders are required to:

✔️ Have inspections carried out

✔️ Complete risk assessments

✔️ Meet animal welfare standards

✔️ Hold appropriate insurance

✔️ Follow safety procedures for weather, exercise, transport and emergencies

Sadly, when people operate without a licence, these checks often aren’t in place — leaving dogs at risk and owners with little protection if the worst happens.

Please, before leaving your beloved pets with anyone:

🐾 Ask to see their licence

🐾 Check insurance cover

🐾 Read reviews

🐾 Visit the premises first

🐾 Don’t be afraid to ask questions

Our dogs are family, and their safety should always come first. ❤️

Please share to help raise awareness

🌞 All dogs can get sunburn, especially those with light pigmentation and short fur. If your dog's one of these breeds, take extra caution in the sun👇

IMPORTANT - Classes cancelled this evening

After careful consideration, I’ve made the decision to cancel this evening’s classes due to the extreme heat. The forecast is still showing 26–27°C at class time. Although the hall stays relatively cool, we also need to factor in travelling to and from the venue, as well as the natural arousal and excitement the dogs experience during class, all of which place extra strain on their breathing.

Your dogs’ safety and welfare are my absolute priority. I’d much rather err on the side of caution than take any unnecessary risks - no dog has ever suffered from missing a walk, but too much exposure to this level of heat can be dangerous, especially for longer haired and brachycephalic breeds, some of which attend this evening's classes.

This means the final class of the course will now take place on Tuesday 9th June 2026. Emails have been sent to confirm this and if this date is a problem and you’re unable to attend, I can offer you a space on one of the next available courses to complete your final session.

This will also impact the start date of the next courses; emails will be going out today to people booked onto these to advise of the changes and confirm attendance.

Stay cool and stay safe, Juanita 🐾🩵
