Green Cabbage Leather Coral — such a beautiful and underrated soft coral!
Here are some fascinating facts about it — perfect for reef lovers:

1. Its surface feels slightly rubbery or leathery because it doesn’t have a hard skeleton like stony corals. That flexible structure lets it sway gently in the current — like an underwater cabbage patch.

2. Cabbage leathers contain symbiotic zooxanthellae algae, which photosynthesize and help purify the water by using waste nutrients.

3. When it’s unhappy (like with poor flow or too much), it forms a thin waxy layer over its surface.
Then it sheds that layer — a natural self-cleaning process! If you see it go dull and then brighten again a few days later, that’s normal exfoliation.

4. They thrive in moderate light and moderate to strong water flow, which keeps their surface clean and their colours glowing.

5. Cut a small piece of the coral, glue or tie it to a rock, and it’ll attach and grow — making cabbage leathers perfect for beginner coral propagation.

6. When the water moves, their folded structure makes mesmerizing patterns — almost like slow ocean waves or petals opening. Many reefers keep them just for that calming motion.

Ooh, Beach Bum Montipora!
One of the most stunning, colourful SPS corals out there — it’s basically the surfer of the reef world: bright and chill-looking!
Some facts about this eye-catching coral:

1. The Beach Bum Montipora is famous for its wild colour combo.

2. Unlike plating or branching Montis, the Beach Bum is an encrusting variety, meaning it grows as a colourful, wavy mat over rocks or frag plugs — like coral lava slowly spreading beauty everywhere.

3. Too little light? It’ll fade.
Too much? It can bleach — so reefers have to find that perfect balance.

4. Like most SPS (small polyp stony) corals, the Beach Bum prefers stable water — consistent parameters and good flow.
Treat it right, and it rewards you with insane colour and steady growth.

5. Even though its polyps are small, they have intense pigmentation that gives the coral its signature look.

6. Because of its colouration, the Beach Bum Montipora is a must-have for SPS collectors.
It’s often one of those “show-off frags” people display front and center in their tanks.

7. Montiporas are generally non-aggressive corals. They don’t have long sweeper tentacles, so they won’t sting neighbours. They just quietly grow and glow.

Snake polyps coral

1. Their name says it all — they look like snakes.

2. Each “snake” is actually a single polyp.
Most corals grow colonies, but snake polyps live as individuals or in small groups.
Each polyp grows from a creeping mat or stalk and can stretch several centimeters — like tiny coral noodles waving in the current.

3. Surprisingly hardy (for such weird little creatures!)
They can thrive in a wide range of light and flow conditions — low to moderate light, gentle to moderate current.
Once settled, they’re pretty tough and long-lived, which makes them a favourite for collectors who like something rare.

4. They’re reef “hidden gems”
You won’t see snake polyps everywhere — they’re considered somewhat rare in the aquarium hobby.
That rarity makes them a collector’s coral — perfect for those who like having something mysterious and different in their reef.

5. Ancient ocean energy
Snake polyps have been around for millions of years — they’re like living fossils from coral reefs long before humans existed.
Keeping them is like holding a little piece of Earth’s deep-sea history.

6. Snake polyps are related to Zoanthids, but they’re sort of the odd, reclusive cousins in the family 🤗

Any fans of Zoanthids?

1. They’re not plants — they’re animals!
Zoanthids might look like underwater flowers, but they’re actually tiny animals related to corals and sea anemones.

2. They’re famous for their stunning colours.

3. Over time, zoas multiply and form mats that cover rocks or coral structures.
They don’t need much help — just stable water conditions, good lighting, and gentle flow.

4. Because zoas come in so many colours and grow easily, they’re a favourite for beginners and collectors.
You can start with a few polyps and end up with a whole rainbow garden.

Some fun facts about mushroom corals:

1. Their name comes from their shape — flat, round, and umbrella-like — but they’re actually single corals, not plants or fungi.

2. Unlike most corals that stay stuck in place, mushroom corals can slowly move across the sand to find better light or flow.

3. If sand or detritus lands on them, they can inflate and “sneeze” it off, puffing water to clean themselves.

4. Mushroom corals come in striking vibrant colours — making them a favourite for reef aquariums.

5. They don’t need much care compared to other corals — they thrive under moderate light and flow, which is why beginners love them.
