☀️ HOT WEATHER PLEASE READ ☀️
So as we all know, it’s very hot at the moment. I’m quite lucky because my building being an old building it’s generally quite cool in here, however by the afternoons it is heating up. My fans are doing the job at the moment, and I’m looking into getting aircon. But with it being so hot I will be doing things slightly differently:
- Your dogs may not have a perfect fluff dry as I will be using a cooler setting on the dryer, this will also mean appointments may take a bit longer.
- I will also be giving dogs a longer break after drying and before grooming, also creating longer appointments.
- Dogs may have wet faces as I will be encouraging water breaks, meaning their faces might not be trimmed as neatly as normal.
- Please do not walk your dogs to your appointments, I will rearrange where I can but with me being very busy I might not be able to and I might have to refer you to another local groomer.
- I will always put your dog first, and make sure they’re as comfortable as can be whilst they’re here.
- Standards of grooming may be different, but that’s not my main concern with weather like this, your dogs comfort is.

I wanna say a massive congratulations to Dale for passing his level 2 dog grooming qualification with a distinction!! 🎉
Dale is so loving and caring with your dogs, and I couldn’t ask for more from him.
He is learning in the college where I used to teach, and his teachers are my past students, so I know he’s in the best hands there! We are hoping in the future if all goes to plan he will be a permanent member of staff, so you might be seeing more of him 😁

Pablos story! (A long post, but it shows what we can achieve when we work together)
So Pablo came to me when he was 12 weeks old, a great age to come to the groomers. However he was extremely nervous, aggressive, and wouldn’t let me near him which is really unusual for a puppy so young. So I suggested his owner work with a trainer to get to the bottom of his anxiety, and to come in for regular bonding visits with myself and we’d go from there. However the trainer in my opinion gave incorrect advice and said for them not to come to me and wait until he was older. So this then lead to Pablo having two sedated grooms at the vets but on the last visit he nearly died on the table. Very traumatic for him and his family. So his owner reached out again to see if we could work together, and of course I said yes as I really had a soft spot for him. Pablos Dad listened to every bit of my advice, and we started with weekly bonding sessions where he literally just came in to chill at the salon. Then we moved on to handling and brushing. I then did bits of grooming, one visit I’d do his eyes and bum, next his feet, and make it not overwhelming. Pablo began to trust me, and the day he jumped onto my lap I almost cried. It’s even harder to gain a dogs trust when they’re not food motivated too.
Well lots and lots of visits and time later, here we are today and I’ve completed his first full groom from start to finish and I could not be prouder of the little guy. It’s taken us 5 months to get here, but that 5 months of hard work from all three of us will have massive benefits for his future! Pabs is still anxious don’t get me wrong, but I’m hoping every time he comes that anxiety will get lower and lower. Shout out to Pablo 🖤🖤🖤
