As the pups chill in the shade after a little play & sniff in the garden I will take the time to do a little post as we still seem to have issues with people walking their dogs in the heat - IT IS LIFE THREATENING. So yes it is SERIOUS.

I will always do my best to do early walks where possible & when I do pop in visits I will never over stimulate them they need to be kept calm & cool - especially pups & older dogs 🙏🏼

Trying to regulate your temperature with a fur coat on constantly is extremely hard for them & with not many of us having air conditioning it is even harder!

Company, cuddles & some time to potter around in a secure outside space is enough for them. Even the evenings are too hot when it hits over 25° - so if you are wondering if its too hot still it probably is. If you have a shady cool spot to let them sniff this is more beneficial than try to "exercise" them. Stimulation doesn't have to be tiring them out physically all of the time in fact that can cause them to be hyperactive/overstimulated so please create a safe still space for them & find chews or toys that work for your dog instead of walks while we experience this unusually warm weather ☀️

When we are on our holidays or on walks, it's important to remember that our dogs will still need our support to make the right decisions. Both for us, themselves and the other dogs around us.

I've seen a few out today. PLEASE STOP! If you are able to chat to anyone with a dog out in this heat please try and explain the dangers to them. I know they may not react the best but it needs to be said I'm afraid 🙏🏼

⚠️ PLEASE BE AWARE IN ADVANCE of the heat coming over the weekend! DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG OUT WITH YOU! Its extremely dangerous & selfish. Walk them before it hits 20° which is EARLY & may get earlier - keep checking the forecast & if you're out for long periods ask someone whether its a professional dog walker, friend, neighbour or family member to pop in and let them in the garden. I REPEAT - DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG OUT. thanks 🙏🏼❤️
