Fun fact.
Did you know that there are so many different dog coat types.
There are double coated dogs; for example German Shepards and Border Collies that have a soft thick undercoat which can keep them warm and a top coat, which is known as Guard Hairs that can act as repellent for water and dirt.
There are single coated dogs; for example Poodles, which are curly coated. Breeds like Shih Tzu's are single coated too and although they don't shed like labradors or Boxer dogs, they do need regular grooming to maintain the coat from knotting up.
Curly coated breeds like Poodles and Bichon Frise's can often have a different curl type- some can be tight curls and others can have loose curls. These breeds also have a single coat and need regular grooming.
There are so many breeds with different coat types that all require specific grooming techniques.

Introducing the marvelous Marley. This beautiful golden retriever came into Groomzone for a bath and brush to clean and shed any dead hair. Grooming dogs doesn't always mean shaving hair, and we think Marley looks very smart after his pamper session.

HINTS AND TIPS ABOUT GROOMING YOUR PET.

Regular brushing can help with tangles and prevent your pet's coat from becoming knotted, which can become painful.

Brushing can help remove dead hair/dead skin it can also help distribute the natural oils which keeps the your pet's coat healthy.

Wiping around your pet's eyes with cotton wool and lukewarm water can help minimise the build up of eye discharge (sleep) and lower the risk of infections.

Using proper pet shampoo when bathing your pups rather than human shampoo.
Human shampoo can upset the ph balance in the skin which can lead to dry and itchy skin.

I would like to reintroduce myself, My name is kim, I started as an apprentice groomer in 2007 and got my qualification in 2009. My years of experience enables me to identify and groom the many different coat types, using the most appropriate equipment, I am able to replicate and perfect the range of styles for different breeds. It's important to adapt your dog's grooming routine throughout the colder months, to keep them warm and comfortable when the temperature drops. Regular brushing two to three times a week will help prevent knots. 🐕
