Dog A.I.D. (Assistance In Disability)

Dog A.I.D. (Assistance In Disability) Please support our life-changing work by donating via Just Giving - https://www.justgiving.com/dogaid

The main difference between Dog AID and many other assistance groups is that the disabled owner learns how to train their own dog. Generally all the training is carried out by the owner with supervision from a specially trained instructor. Dog AID training is designed to give a measure of independence and provide owners with the knowledge to train other tasks. This allows them to adapt the training to their own needs with an instructor who is able to give advice as required

Congratulations to Suzanne and Mutz for passing their assessment! Huge thanks to Ethical Dog - Cannock Chase for assessing this lovely partnership. We're so grateful to our wonderful volunteer trainers who support our life-changing work

We had such a lovely assistance dog assessment this week. This team had a beautiful relationship and clear bond between dog and handler and it was lovely to see calm and relaxed handling through out and a very happy dog enjoying his work!

Congratulations to Susanne and Mutz for another year accredited as an assistance dog team with Dog A.I.D. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Huge congratulations go to Asha and Birdie who have recently passed their Level 2 assessment on their journey towards accredited Assistance Dog status. We're so grateful to volunteer trainer Kaitlin Reynell (www.encoredogs.com) who has been supporting this hard working partnership.

We are devastated to share the news that Dog A.I.D. is facing closure.
If we donโ€™t raise at least ยฃ100,000 by 15 November, weโ€™ll have no option but to start closing the charity

We are a small charity, and we do not receive any government funding. We make a very big impact for physically Disabled people. But we rely entirely on people choosing to donate or volunteer to be able to do this.

We have always managed to raise enough in previous years to keep going and continue to support disabled people who need us. We are proud to have helped 476 disabled people to train their dogs and improve their lives. But this year, thereโ€™s been more competition for funds than ever before, and despite our best efforts, we
have not been able to bring in enough funding quickly enough for us to keep going much longer.

PLEASE can you help by making a donation today? https://www.justgiving.com/charity/dogaid

We donโ€™t know where else to turn other than to our community and to people who understand the difference our work makes for Disabled people. So please donate whatever you can today. Thank you.

๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿพ A Huge Thank You! ๐Ÿพ๐ŸŽ‰

Weโ€™re thrilled to share that a wonderful team of Dog A.I.D. volunteers ran a fundraising stall at the North East Dog Fest at the weekend โ€“ raising over ยฃ1,000 for Dog A.I.D.! ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿถ

A special shoutout goes to Leonie who led the team and arranged our attendance, organised the stall, collected tombola donations and made this fantastic fundraising effort possible. Leonie is a long-time supporter of our charity and we're in awe of her efforts and for thinking of us all whilst grieving the recent loss of retired Assistance Dog Alex. We loved the photos from the day including Nelson, Alex's little brother and Assistance Dog in training, flying the flag and having a go at the "lucky dip" for dogs!

We'd also like to give a shoutout to Stagecoach, a wonderful company who sponsored our lovely stand at the event. We're very grateful for their continuing support.

We are so grateful to Leonie and every volunteer who gave their time, energy and enthusiasm to represent Dog A.I.D. โ€“ you are truly the heart of what we do. Every pound raised will help us continue empowering physically Disabled people to train their own pets to become life-changing assistance dogs.

๐Ÿ‘ Thank you to everyone who supported us at the festival.
๐Ÿ‘ And the biggest thanks to our wonderful volunteers โ€“ you make the difference. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’›โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’›

We're delighted to announce that our Dog A.I.D. Trainer of the Month for August is...Anne Tucker!!! Congratulations Anne! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฅ๐ŸŽ‰

Weโ€™ve received some lovely feedback from Anneโ€™s client, who has complimented her adaptability and quick thinking. They said their dog is unlike any dog theyโ€™ve had before, but that Anne is great at reading her and finding the best way to teach her things, which has improved their training relationship massively. Anneโ€™s client finished by simply stating that sheโ€™s an excellent trainer, which is fantastic to hear ๐Ÿ˜Š

Thank you for all your hard work, Anne, and congratulations!

It feels at the moment as if summer is disappearing fast and we're looking forward to new terms starting soon at schools, colleges and universities across the U.K. If your educational establishment is planning a fundraiser this Autumn (or dare we say it, for Christmas?!), why not choose Dog A.I.D. as your chosen charity? We don't receive any government funding and every penny fundraised for us goes towards supporting physically Disabled people to live a more independent life with the help of their Assistance Dog.

Please consider "lending a paw" for Dog A.I.D. this Autumn. Check out our website to find out how! - https://dogaid.org.uk/lend-a-paw-campaign

Dog A.I.D. works with physically Disabled people to coach them to train their own pet dog, utilising the bond that already exists between the owner and their pet, to become an accredited Assistance Dog.ย
