Bee and wasp stings can happen to our cats and dogs 🐝

Bees often leave a sting behind in the skin, while wasps can sting multiple times.

As most of you know I was at pawfest over the weekend as you all know my passion and love I have for dogs I saw some shocking things from dog owners one man slapping his dog ( a lovely little staffie ) 🤬 over the head which was shocking and I made my feelings very clear and had to walk away before anything escalated, also the use of prong collars and slip leads which some owners still think this is ok to use on their beautiful dogs.

I am just going to highlight below the effects it has on a dog.

Prong collars and slip leads can cause significant physical pain, fear, and emotional distress to dogs when used it is a punishment-based training tool. Prong collars work by applying pressure and pinching around a dog’s neck, which can lead to pain, bruising, damage to the trachea, and increased anxiety or fear-based behaviours. Slip leads can also tighten around the throat, restricting breathing and causing discomfort, especially when constant pulling or corrections are used.

Dogs learn best through trust, patience, and positive reinforcement — not fear or pain. Using aversive tools can damage the bond between dog and owner and may suppress behaviour rather than truly addressing the cause of it. Nervous, reactive, or sensitive dogs are especially vulnerable to the emotional effects of harsh handling methods.

✔️ Set up a quiet space away from the excitement
✔️ Offer enrichment like stuffed food toys, snuffle mats, lick mats, or safe chews
✔️ Keep to familiar routines where you can

This is lovely Biggy 🥰 I don’t think he was to happy with me today as he didn’t want a groom but he done really well but boy is he stubborn if he don’t want to do something then he won’t
There is no negotiating with him 🤣

This is the lovely Hector’s first groom with me
And he is so sweet but very nervous of the dryer
So it is trying to find out what he feels comfortable with and for hector the snood worked so well, and he felt so comfortable.
In grooming it’s changing little things to help the dog feel settled and if at any point they can not cope I just won’t do it and just build on the issue in time with building confidence and trust 🥰
