Allen & Page Horse Feeds

Allen & Page Horse Feeds Allen & Page are passionate about producing top-quality horse feeds that nourish and support your horse’s health and performance.

Using Non-GM ingredients, Allen & Page feeds are crafted with care to meet the unique needs of every horse. Allen & Page was first established as a limited company in 1936 and now has four generations of experience in producing quality horse feed, helping to build the business into the major national feed producer it is today. r many years before that. Originally based at the mill at Quayside, Norwich, we quickly became renowned across East Anglia for the high quality feed we produced. Our ability to be innovative and continually improve has always been something that we value here at Allen & Page, as a part of that process we made the decision to move the business to its current state of the art mill in Shipdham, Norfolk. The new mill has provided us with the technology to produce our feeds, with precision feed blending and in an environmentally friendly way. More than two decades ago we gained the accreditation of major food production and quality control bodies, including the Vegetarian Society, Soil Association (Organic) and ISO organisations. This set a standard for us to continue working closely to ensuring the highest quality feed is always produced. In 2009, Allen & Page was delighted to receive a Royal Warrant from HRH The Prince of Wales. Looking to the future, we are always investigating new ways to improve and innovate; drawing on the experience and knowledge gained from almost a century of making horse feed.

Muscle & Focus may be a well-suited feed for our supported rider Gubby Leech’s Damage Van Berkenbroeck Z, but did you know it suits many different equines.

High quality protein sources provide the building blocks for muscle development, making it ideal for those changing disciplines or just starting their ridden careers.

We asked our supported rider, Ginnie Turnball, how she had found it competing at Burghley in the past. Here’s what she had to say:

“Thinking back (oh so long ago!) when preparing for my first Burghley, a highly experienced competitor asked me how my last few weeks of training were going. To be honest, not very well was my answer. I had been mentally tormenting myself over which event I was going to do in the build-up, then worrying about the ground, which in August is notoriously tricky, and trying to keep everything improving in my training.

What seems to happen is that you send off the entry and everything implodes! Events either cancel or we have a drought. Your horse develops some weird condition that even the Vet is puzzled over, which brings him out in hives which obviously you can’t treat for fear of using a prohibited cream!

I decided that I had better steer away from hard ground and I would go schooling to an all-weather xc course, where the water jump was in the centre of the school. My horse, who had happily jumped into water all his competitive life, decided it was a definite NO!!! When I finally got him to walk (!) in, my confidence about the looming Trout Hatchery had taken a nosedive!! He then developed some weird mud fever condition from the water jump, which clearly had become a bit grotty! And there you have it, the Curse of the B’s! Badminton, Burghley, Blenheim, Blair and Bramham! In your excitement of reaching your lifelong goal, it feels like it gets further away daily!

Even when you are there, the curse continues. We had two horses competing at Blenheim once and were grazing them happily in the evenings. They had lived out together at home since 4-year-olds. One kicked the other, in front of the FEI vet and the victim never made it to his test on the Friday!! Brilliant!

How I wish when I was competing however, that the feeds available were as good as they are now. My wonderful old trooper used to stop eating the moment he arrived at his event! He then just “shrunk” in front of my eyes all week. Having Muscle & Focus would have made such a difference to him as it is soaked and so much more palatable than the feed he was on then - anorexia would have been avoided!!

Good luck to all those amazing, incredible riders and talented horses to achieve their goals of getting to a 5 star. I guarantee that at least a handful have had an interesting last month in their preparations!!”

In each phase of a 3-day event your horse needs to have the right amount of energy and stamina for their unique needs, whilst remaining focused.

Muscle & Focus has been designed for horses and ponies requiring stamina, whether they are competing at higher levels or maintaining a leisure riding career. Free from alfalfa, soya, molasses, and whole cereal grains, Muscle & Focus is low in starch and sugar, ideal for those that lose focus when on a high starch diet.

Just 5 days to go until the National Championships .

This 15-year-old mare (owned by our Marketing Administrator) is looking great on Veteran Light. She’s not going to the championships, as she says “she’s a happy hacker”, so we’d love to hear who IS attending the National Championships and what they like to eat.
