Shepreth Hedgehog Hospital is a unit near Cambridge dedicated to the rehabilitation and release of the European Hedgehog. It was opened in 2012 and is run by 9 trustees, 2 staff, an incredibly dedicated team of volunteers, and we would

not exist without our generous supporters. We admit up to 800 hedgehogs annually from across Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire, as well as the surrounding areas of Greater London, Suffolk, Essex and Bedfordshire. Found a hog that is injured, poorly, orphaned or out during the day? Please note this page is not constantly monitored so do not wait here for a reply here if you are concerned about a hog - please call us on our helpline 07505651968 or 07947361187 (Open 10 am - 4 pm)

3. Find and contact a local wildlife rescue

History
Shepreth Wildlife Park managed a hedgehog rehabilitation program on-site for many years but, upon seeing the need for expansion, created the Shepreth Wildlife Conservation Charity (SWCC) in 2011. The SWCC also helps many other conservation efforts worldwide and aims to raise awareness about endangered species, which is why you may occasionally see posts about other animals on this page too. We need lots of newspaper to use as bedding for the hogs, so an easy way to help is to save your newspaper and drop them off in the brown wheelie bins outside the hospital or outside the wheelie bins located at the shed near the top of the carpark. If you remove the staples from them first we will be eternally grateful.

We want to send a huge thank you to the wonderful Phoebe, who set up her very own Hedgehog Stall on her driveway this November to raise money for our hedgehogs!

Inspired after visiting one of our stands at St Ives Library last year, she made hedgehog cookies, hedgehog cupcakes, painted hedgehog pebbles, printed fact sheets and even made hedgehog Christmas cards. She also created a mini baby hedgehog feeding station to show how tiny hoglets are fed.

Thanks to her hard work, Phoebe raised an incredible £94! Every penny will go directly towards caring for the hedgehogs in the SWCC Hedgehog Hospital.

‼️Newspaper appeal‼️

It has been an extremely busy Autumn and we are running desperately low on newspapers.

We have 4 brown wheelie bins in our car park for drop offs and if those are full please drop them in to the hospital.

We can only take clean newspaper. No TV magazines, junk mail or glossy magazines.
