❗️This is a hard watch ❗️
This isn’t my usual type of post at all, but I think it really highlights the importance of control and recall around dogs.
I work on both sides of the industry, walking and training. So I see many variations of situations like this. While this is a worst-case scenario, it is also preventable.
One thing I see far too often is off-lead dogs being allowed to run up to on-lead dogs. Even with friendly intentions, this can very quickly escalate and lead to conflict or dog fights.
Shouting across a field “they just want to play” or “they’re friendly” really isn’t enough. Not every dog wants interaction, and owners should never feel pressured into allowing it.
This is also why, with my duty of care as a dog walker, not every dog in my care is allowed off lead. Safety will always be my number one priority.
Control and recall are such an important part of responsible dog ownership. Along with respecting another owner saying “no thank you.”
