We are aware of the posts circulating regarding a dog that very sadly died after visiting a tulip festival.

We want to make it very clear that, despite what is circulating in the press and on social media, this dog did not die as a result of tulip poisoning.

As the UK’s only animal poison centre in the UK, we have managed over 1600 cases regarding tulips. Based on this evidence and our research, we can reassure the public that the clinical signs described in this case are not consistent with tulip toxicity. While tulips may cause gastrointestinal upset if ingested, severe cases are very uncommon. Other potential causes should be considered in this case.

Not scanned by a veterinarian and consent to euthanise given by a person not registered on his microchip.

That this is still happening 7 years after we first posted this photo is heartbreaking.

This is why we are asking you to complete the DEFRA consultation because……

……. we didn’t get answers and that came down to GDPR. The vet practice only recognises the person presenting an animal as their client even if they are not registered on the microchip. That has to change.

…….. we didn’t get his body back for an individual cremation which means his remains were communally cremated and a few ashes from him and those who were cremated with him scattered at the crematorium and the rest sent to landfill. That has to change.

……… we had no justice from reporting these failures to the authorities. The complaint systems are not fit for purpose. That has to change.

Tuk may have been the first to highlight this but many have followed him.

Now there is the opportunity to tell DEFRA why scanning has to be law and there are just 9 days left to do that.

Grateful for Pooch Parks, Denby Dale this morning. Still suffering with this bloody cold/flu. Is great to open the car doors and let the fur babies go mad in a secure, low key, environment.
