🚨 Kennel Cough in the area ⚠️
Please note kennel cough seems to be working its way through the area. Since it’s highly contagious among dogs, Im kindly asking all customers to monitor their dogs for any symptoms.
If your dog is showing any signs of being unwell, please let me know as soon as possible. Your dog/s will need to quarantine until fully recovered to help stop the spreading.
⚠️ Symptoms to Watch For:
🔹 Persistent, dry cough (often sounds like honking)
🔹 Gagging or retching (as if trying to clear their throat)
🔹 Sneezing or nasal discharge
🔹 Mild lethargy or reduced appetite (in some cases)
⚠️Key points about kennel cough and its duration:
Typical duration: Most kennel cough cases resolve within 10-21 days.
Coughing period: The most noticeable coughing may only last a week or two.
Contagious period: Even after the cough subsides, a dog can still be contagious for a couple of weeks for this reason I won’t allow any dogs before this time.
While most mild cases clear up on their own, contact your vet if symptoms worsen e.g a persistent cough, difficulty breathing, lethargy, loss of appetite, or a high fever alongside the cough. .
This can be serious for puppies and elderly dogs. Please be mindful !
Please don’t take offence if I refuse your dog on arrival if I suspect Kennel Cough.
I have dogs of my mine and need to protect them and other dogs coming in.
Please note just because your dog has had the KC vaccine doesn’t mean they won’t catch kennel cough !
