I was requested to clip off Woody's feathers a month ago because he was itchy, sore and generally uncomfortable with his legs.

We discovered that he had sores, scabby patches and his skin was red and inflamed.

His owner really didn't want to get rid of his lovely feathers but she put his welfare and comfort first and boy was that the best decision. She was able to access and treat his legs so much easier.

As you can see in the pictures they have gone from red and sore calm and comfortable. They have vastly improved and hopefully he will be able to grow his feathers back to their full glory.

😃CLIPPING LESSON 👌

Sasha asked for a clipping lesson and thats exactly what she got. I gave her a little run down of what equipment to use and the safest way to use it.
She got to have a go with small and heavy duty clippers. Was advised how to position the horse and was shown how to get the best results.
Nothing was made too difficult and it was all made easy to understand.
I think she did an absolutely brilliant job and I could easily see how confident she got with the clippers throughout her lesson (she had never picked up a pair before today!)

Horse Lice: What Every Owner Should Know 🐴

Lice in horses are more common than many people realise, especially during the colder months when thick winter coats provide the perfect hiding place. While they’re rarely life-threatening, they can make horses extremely uncomfortable and miserable if left untreated.

Signs your horse may have lice:
▪ Excessive itching or rubbing
▪ Patchy hair loss
▪ Scurfy skin or dandruff
▪ Restlessness or irritability
▪ A dull, unhealthy coat
▪ Tiny pale eggs (nits) stuck to the hair shafts
Lice spread easily through direct contact, shared rugs, brushes, tack, and stables — particularly in horses with thick coats, older horses, or those with weakened immune systems.

Treatment & Management:
✔ Use a veterinary-approved lice treatment
✔ Treat all horses that may have been in contact
✔ Wash or disinfect rugs, grooming kits, and tack
✔ Deep clean stables and grooming areas
✔ Repeat treatment if advised to kill newly hatched lice
