Not all holiday cottages have a resident Herdwick ram quietly watching over the kitchen.

This beautiful commissioned piece by Donna McGhie takes pride of place at Herdwick Barn and feels right at home among the barn’s collection of quirky artwork, colourful characters and countryside touches.

From crowned lions to curious foxes, there’s something to catch your eye in every corner. We think the little details matter just as much as the big views.

And yes… the ram is definitely judging your second glass of wine. 🐏🍷

Soft linen. Ensuite bedrooms. Quiet mornings in the Yorkshire Dales.

Herdwick Barn was designed for proper switching off. Slow starts, deep sleeps and the sort of peace you only really notice when it’s gone.

Step outside and the Howgills are waiting. Stay in, and the coffee tastes just as good.

Pup-tinis at Herdwick Barn? Oh go on then. 🍸🐾

Because if humans are getting cosy evenings, stunning walks and holiday treats, the dogs deserve a little something too. This one is made with dog-safe ingredients and is ridiculously easy to whip up after a day exploring the fells.

Honestly, some of our four-legged guests already arrive acting like they own the place. This will not help. 😄

Some places say “dog friendly”. Others actually mean it 🐾

Sandra came to Herdwick Barn for a test run before bringing the dogs… and it sounds like the paddock passed inspection beautifully. From safe enclosed space to evening sunsets shared together in the garden, this is exactly why Denise and Johnny created Herdwick Barn the way they did.

Luxury for humans. Freedom for dogs. Proper Yorkshire peace and quiet for everyone.

And honestly… “pooches in tow” sounds like a return booking waiting to happen 💖
