It's been a little while since we've said hello to some new faces as we've been crazy busy behind the scenes 😴

But look at these two gorgeous girlies! πŸ₯ΉπŸ’“

Winnie has joined myself on one of our paddock groups, and as she's still young, we've taken it very slowly with her whilst she grows in confidence! She's already doing amazing and making lots of new friends! I'm so proud of her!

Ruby has joined Beth for regular walks and is one of those dogs who has fitted in so perfectly that it feels like she's been with us forever πŸ₯Ή Beth has already fallen head over heels with her!

Keep your eyes peeled for their new adventures with us πŸ₯°

A couple of weeks ago, we sadly said goodbye to our gorgeous boy, Odie.

Some of you may have seen him quite a lot on my stories recently as we've been on a little journey together.

Heartbreakingly, Odie only lost his brother, Archie, in February πŸ’” After losing Archie, I began to see a calmer side to Odie, as previously, Archie & Odie would wind each other up when seeing other dogs and therefore, understandably, they didn't get the opportunity to socialise very often.

I noticed that Odie was quiet in himself, and I wondered if he would like some new friends in his life. After speaking with Odie's family, I trialled him with Pippa and Pig at the paddock, and it went perfectly πŸ₯Ή I could see how happy he was to have company again, and it absolutely melted my heart!

I began introducing a couple of new dogs, one at a time, with the aim of Odie joining my group session. But sadly, we never got that far πŸ’”

My heart broke into pieces hearing the news that Odie's health had deteriorated as I was so hopeful that he would have a whole bunch of new friends soon.

But life had other plans, and that was for Odie to go back to his original best friend and brother, Archie ❀️

Rest easy boys, I miss you little gremlins so much! I know you're causing absolute havoc up there together - don't ever stop πŸ₯°

Sending all of our love to Archie & Odie's family 🀍

We miss our Max Moon very much whilst the poor boy has been undergoing surgery and a lot of prodding and poking at the vets recently. He's an absolute trooper and we can't to have him back soon πŸ’™πŸ’™

On Friday, I had the pleasure of working alongside the lovely Alvin the Schnauzer to help with his barking towards other dogs. And on Saturday, I had the pleasure of working alongside the lovely Rip, also a Schnauzer, to help him with exactly the same issues!

Rip can be incredibly vocal towards other dogs, so we worked out what kind of distance Rip could work from to create success, showed him what we were asking of him, and watched those little cogs turn so fast whilst he figured out how to get his rewards!

I was so impressed with how eager Rip was to learn. He even managed to completely disengage to his surroundings when other dogs were around to go and have a sniff, which was a HUGE improvement!

Whenever anyone enquires about training for reactivity, it is always super important that I make people aware that they may need a behaviourist, depending on what the reactivity is stemming from.

Fortunately, for both Alvin & Rip, it appeared to be a case of fomo!

Both of their owners had accidentally reinforced their behaviour by giving them what they wanted in an attempt to stop them from barking!

E.g. Dog barks because they want to go over to another dog - owner cringes because of the looks other people give them when their dogs are being noisy - owner allows dog to go say hello to the other dog - dogs play and have the best time OR gets a handful of tasty treats thrown at them to shut them up - dog has learnt that barking = I get what I want!

It's SO easily done! I've even done it myself to get me out of situations where I feel embarrassed when my dog is going ballistic and other owners look at me like I'm the worst person on the planet!

But lesson number one will always be - SOD WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK! It took me a very long time to learn that lesson myself, and now I rarely even look at other people if my dog isn't coping well in a situation. It's not worth it!

I look at my dog, I stay calm, I focus on her, and I do my best to work her through anything that she is finding difficult πŸ’•

Yes, it takes time, patience, and perseverance, but you can make positive changes, I promise!
