Although these might just appear like classics and amels... there's something ever so slightly special about them...

These guys are the start of our Scaleless Coral Snow Tessera project. These little babies all carry the amel, anery, red factor, and scaleless genes, facilitating the project and eventually producing something that, as far as we are aware, no one else is doing right now.

Can we just skip to the good bit? 👌😫😂

They're finally here! 🙌 🤩

This is the clutch we've had the most pre-orders for, and you can absolutely see why! 😍🥰 These stunning Coral Snow Tesseras, Snow Tesseras, and Snows are so beautiful. The Snow morph is probably one of, if not the, most popular morphs we produce every year.😳

In total, we hatched out 19 of these beauties, and we can't wait to get them established on their food and into their new owners' hands 😀

This years clutch of Butters are looking 🔥 💯

The butter morph is probably one of my favourites, but chuck in that Tessera gene, and it takes it to a whole other level.

These guys will soon be going up on to morph market, although be quick, as we already have pre-orders and there's only 6 of them!

We can't get over how stunning some of the hatchlings from this clutch are!

The pairing was our girl Cinnamon (Ghost Motley) x Sausage (Coral Snow Tessera), and the babies are just gorgeous.

It's a pairing a do every year because it's always a fan favourite! We've already got pre-orders for these little guys when they go and more are coming in. It's always such a great feeling to see such a wonderful response to animals you've worked tirelessly to produce.

Another baby Leopard Gecko has hatched!

This is our first season breeding Leo's, and we've learned such an immense amount about these wonderful animals.

We will be holding all of the babies back we produce this year, building up our livestock ready for next season where we can hopefully produce some stunning animals.

We're thoroughly enjoying this journey despite the hardships along the way.

Well, well, well, isn't that a surprise!

This is not the clutch we were expecting at all. The pairing was Sausage (Coral Snow Tessera het Motley) to Apricot (Scaleless with unknown hets)... We were expecting normals at best, loaded with heta for future projects.

Instead, we've got... Well, I'm not entirely sure! I think those are Butters, as despite the photo making them look extremely pink, they're not red enough to be amels and they're not light enough to be snows, which makes me think they might be Butters. We'll have to wait and see how they look after a few sheds.

As for the darker ones, they're not anerys, as there's brown and red in them, so perhaps normals. Maybe with some RF in them? Once again, I'm not sure as this one has thrown is for a loop. Once they've had one or two sheds, I'll have a much better idea of their morphs. However, I'm happy to say they're all scaleless, which build towards multiple future projects! Exciting and, confusing, times 😂😍

They're starting to hatch thick and fast!

That's the second clutch this week that has started to hatch. The pairing was Cinnamon (Ghost Motley) x Sausage (Coral Snow Tessera). This clutch will produce some absolute stunners like the same pairing last year.

We're expecting Anery, Anery Motleys, Anery Tessera, Anery Motley Tessera, and some with RF thrown in, which gives the whites a gorgeous pink colour. So, a really stunning variety!

This time of year really is like Christmas for breeders, as all of those gorgeous pearly white start to have little heads poking out of them.

Finally, some great news after yesterday's tragedy! 🤩

Our first clutch of the season has finally started to pip! We're so excited to see what will be produced from this pairing. It was between Passionfruit (Lavender Motley het anery, amel) and Blackberry (Lavender Tessera het anery, amel, motley) so it should produce everything from Opal Motley Tesseras to Moonstone Motleys. There's going to be great variety in this clutch!

After the tragedy at the start of the week, it's really great to have something that lifts the spirits! 🥰

Absolutely heartbroken! 💔

We've been away for the last couple of weeks (hence the lack of posting) on a well-deserved break, but we've come home to find one of our incubators has failed! The temps, for some reason, have shot up to 60c, subsequently killing the 8 leopard gecko eggs inside. 😭

There doesn't seem to be any reason why the incubator has malfunctioned, and it was only purchased last year. It had been working for a month and a half without any issues.

We know that there's always the possibility of downside to breeding reptiles, but it doesn't hurt any less when it happens. We'll gut it and repurpose it as a DIY incubator, so hopefully this issue won't happen again.

And just like that, the last of the clutches is laid for this season.

Our stunning Sage (Snow Tessera), who was paired to our Coral Snow Tessera het Motley, Sausage, laid a stunning clutch of 20 pearly white eggs! The aim is to produce more Coral Snow Tesseras and future our line, producing some of the pinkest snow tesseras going!

Although our season has had its highlights, unfortunately, sometimes, it can be hit and miss. Two clutches laid consisted of all slugs, and 2 girls decided they didn't want to go this season.

With 73 eggs laid for us this season, it has been a marked improvement over last year. Although we didn't hit our target of 120 gorgeous little pearls, we improved over last year, and that's all that matters in this game. Onwards and upwards!

Dinner time at Scales & Tails UK.

This gorgeous guy, a W&Y APTOR, must have been starving because as soon as we gave him some meal worms today, he absolutely demolished them!

We currently have 10 eggs in the incubator from our first season with Leo's, which we're really happy about as we've only just got into them and are dipping our toe into working with them... the corns, on the other hand... Might need to buy someone bigger 🤔 😬

We can't wait to see what this gorgeous girl hatches out.

Apricot (Scaleless ph Amel, Anery, Caramel) x Sausage (Coral Snow Tessera het Motley) is the start of our Scaleless Snow Tessera project. We're hoping to prove out her hets, but even if we don't manage to, her offspring will go on to produce Scaleless Snow Tessera, as they'll all be 100% het for Scaleless, amel and anery.

Breeding projects take years in the making, but when it all finally comes off, that'll be when it's worth every second.
