🐾 Your beagles leash reactivity is not your fault!

It's the lead. 🦮

The lead isn't just frustrating your beagle. It's the trigger for everything.

🐶 Off lead, most beagles are completely different dogs.
🐶 On a lead they lose all their choices.

They can't go and say hello on their terms if they love to see every dog or person.

They can't create space if something scares them.

That trapped feeling is exactly what tips them into a meltdown.

And everything you've been told about fixing it?

It's advice designed for a Labrador who is bred to focus on their handler and is able to sit still with training.

The reason we struggle is our delightful beagles were NOT bred to focus on their handler or sit still 🤣

We need to not only use a completely different way of helping our beagles with reacitivity but we need to learn to ignore the naysayers.

We having a hunting breed not an obedience breed.

My 4-Week Beagle Leash Pulling & Reactivity Course is designed to help you get your walks back whether that's pulling or reactivity or both.

⭐ Beagle-specific. Not generic dog training.
⭐ Starts Wednesday 11th March, 7pm UK, 3pm Est
⭐ Recorded if you can't make the lives.

Spolier alert - you won't need your beagle 😉

This one wasn't always this chill 😁

At 11 months old, when I adopted her, she drove me absolutely INSANE. 🤯

😵‍💫 She was bouncing off the walls,
😵‍💫 Grabbing anything she could chew,
😵‍💫 And bothering poor Daisy so much Daisy nearly lost her voice shouting at her.

Pepper hadn’t yet learned that the strange wired feeling in her brain 🧠
...caused by a full day of stimulation and natural evening hormones...
..actually meant she just needed to lie down and sleep!

Like many beagle pups and adolescents, she had discovered her own way of switching off…

🫨 ZOOMIES 🫨

And those zoomies quickly turned into stealing things, ankle nipping, barking, and general evening chaos.

If I had left her to it, this routine would have carried on until late every night.

Many people are told that dogs will simply go to sleep when they are tired, but pack-driven breeds often need to be shown how to settle.

Beagles learn through watching, copying, and gentle direction, just as they would within their natural pack.

Once we showed Pepper how evenings were meant to feel, everything changed.

In tomorrow's online evening training, I’ll show you how to look at:

🐶 your beagle’s day to make sure it isn't contributing to the evening chaos.
🐶 reduce evening overstimulation.
🐶 teach them how to switch from...

“let’s go crazy” to “let’s lie down and relax.”

Comment ZOOMIE below if you’d like the details.

Evenings can feel like the hardest part of the day with a beagle…puppy or older!

I remember it all too well with puppy Lois (pictured)

But also I had it with Billy too (in the middle).

Four years old when I adopted him and he had no clue how to settle in the evening.

I remember just sitting down and then a switch off,

…their energy seemed to switch on.

Zoomies, barking, chewing, pacing, stealing, guarding, refusing to settle… and everyone ends up exhausted.

The truth is, this isn’t about “bad behaviour”.

🤯 Evening madness is often a sign of an overstimulated nervous system,

…that just hasn’t been shown how to switch into rest mode.

But you can absolutely have a calm evening.

With snoozing beagles from as early as 5pm, if that’s what you want.

That’s why I’m running a live training workshop on Zoom next week.

“The Calm Beagle Evening Reset”

In this session I’ll show you:

🐶 Why evenings are the most challenging time for many beagles

🐶 The simple routine that helps their brains move into calm mode

🐶 How to prevent the second-wind chaos before it starts

🐶 What to do when they just won’t settle

🐶 How to manage difficult behaviour

🐶 Why walking or playing with them can make it worse.

🐶 Live Q&A so you can get help specific to your beagle

🤓 If calm evenings would make life feel easier right now,

…this workshop will give you a clear plan to start using straight away.

🥳 Comment EVENING below and I’ll send you the details.

🐶 A lady temporarily lost her dog today.

🎵 Using a whistle is brilliant.
But here’s the bit most people don’t realise…

🧠 If a dog is genetically wired to track, hunt or chase like our beagles are, and they are in that mode, they will not respond to a whistle until their brain says the job is done.

It’s not disobedience.
It’s biology.

🚫 The other really important thing… don’t move.

I couldn’t get close enough to guide her, but she actually walked away from the area trying to find her dog.

Most dogs, especially scent hounds, will track back to the last place they saw you.
That’s why a beagle often turns to look at you before shooting off.

📍 Stay put.
📢 Blow the whistle every 10 to 15 seconds.

You’re trying to catch that moment when they stop tracking or chasing.
That’s when they’ll suddenly come flying back like nothing ever happened.

Beagles hear incredibly well and that whistle will carry much further than your voice.

🧡 Calm. Still. Consistent.

🎄🐶 Why I’m leaving my girls at home this Christmas

I love my girls.

💛 They are my absolute world.

But my god… they are an experience at other people’s houses 😅

My calm, lovely girls at home turn into fully rogue little sh*tes who take no prisoners the second we cross someone else’s doorstep!

If I do take them anywhere, the person I’m visiting has to:

🐾 Put all bins out of reach.

🐾 Hide any pet food (my mum has cat food… which is basically beagle crack 🙈).

🐾 Close off any rooms they don’t want the girls going into.

🐾 Put away anything precious, sentimental or remotely breakable.

🐾 Push all food right to the back of the counters… or ideally remove it from the building entirely.

When we arrive, I then spend a solid two hours following them around like a lost soul.

While they sniff every inch of the house and garden like they’re conducting a full forensic investigation 🔍😂

🦴 While food is being prepared, the girls need a chew.

When we eat dinner, they need a chew that will last…

Otherwise Pepper will just bark at everyone like she’s been personally offended.

Then in the evening, I have to tether Pepper so she can chill out and stop managing the entire household.

🙈 It’s honestly not relaxing. At all.

😆🚗 My only saving grace is that if they’re really pushing everyone to the edge, they will happily sleep in the boot of my car.

So this year, I’m going out for dinner with my mum.

The girls will stay at home, fast asleep and completely unbothered.

Then I’ll come back and spend the rest of Christmas Day chilling with them and watching Christmas films 🎄📺

No stress.

No chaos.

🙌 And no washing up

Christmas can be stressful for beagle parents, which is why I’ve put together some tips and videos to help you get through this period as calmly as possible.

🎄 Christmas Beagle ready?

I can hear the resounding no’s already 😆

But I’ve got you.

I learned the hard way so you don’t have to.

🤓 I’ve put together everything you need to get through Christmas with your beagle… calmly.

Inside, I cover things like:

🐾 Why you don’t want to walk your beagle on Christmas Day.

Especially if you’ve got guests coming or you’re heading out to see family.

🐾 How to manage car 🚘 journeys if your beagle isn’t a fan.

🐾 How to stop them stealing the shiny new Christmas pressies 🎁 your kids unwrap.

🐾 How to keep them calm while you cook and enjoy Christmas dinner.

🐾 🎥 Videos showing you how to use tether training properly.

🐾 A clear breakdown of chews that actually keep beagles entertained.

🐾 How to prevent issues with guests and resource guarding
And honestly… so much more.

I really want you all to have a lovely, peaceful Christmas with your beagle 🎄💛🐶

I’ve popped the details in the comments.

Take care and happy beagling,

Kellie

🎄 I still remember my very first Christmas with Pepper… and honestly, I did everything wrong.

She was just over a year, full of beans, full of opinions, and absolutely convinced that Christmas had been invented for her.

I thought I was doing the right thing…

Long festive walk, lots of excitement, toys everywhere, everyone fussing her, letting her stay up later because “it’s Christmas”.

But by lunchtime she was a complete emotional puddle.

🙈 She barked at everything.

🙈 She stole a pack of pigs in blankets straight off the counter.

🙈 She growled at Daisy because she was overtired.

🙈 She couldn’t settle.

🙈 She was pacing, panting, frantic… and I remember thinking:

“I’m a beagle trainer. How have I messed this up so badly?” 😅

The truth is… I’d overstimulated her.

Too much walking.
Too many people.
Too much noise.
Zero rest.

And no boundaries because I wanted her to “have a lovely Christmas”.

By 4pm I realised she wasn’t being naughty.

She was shattered.

So I made her a cosy bed in the quietest room, shut the blinds, gave her a chew, and put her to sleep early… and she finally calmed.

And the difference was incredible.

That’s the Christmas I learned:

🐾 Beagles don’t need more fun
🐾 They need more sleep
🐾 They need structure, not chaos
🐾 Calm beats long walks every single time
🐾 And you can absolutely save the day with a good reset

And it’s exactly why I created the little Christmas guide… so you don’t have to learn the hard way like I did 🤣

If you want the guide, I’ve popped the link in the comments so it doesn’t get buried by Facebook.

Hope your Christmas is calmer than my first one with little Miss Pepper 🎄💛🐶

Happy Beagling,

🚑 Trip to the emergency vet last night 🙈

Because The Beagle Lady got beagled again!!!

I never keep chewing gum in my house… always in my car.

But this time I forgot I’d left some in my handbag.

I popped out for an errand and, as always, my beagles are one step ahead of me 😅

Pepper has been climbing onto the little ledge where the basket is in the picture.

The painting was supposed to stop her jumping onto the counter when I’m out.

I put my handbag in the basket for weight.
But no… of course not 🤦‍♀️

It seems one of them pulled the whole basket down.

When I got home my handbag was on the floor and half a tub (approx 20) of chewing gum was gone.

But I had no idea who had eaten it 😩

So off we went to the vets, with me in floods of tears… and my beautiful daughter keeping me calm…

And the culprit was… drum roll please… 🥁

PEPPER!

Poor Daisy was made to be sick and there was no chewing gum at all.

Pepper had eaten the whole lot 😬

For anyone who doesn’t know, most chewing gums, including Wrigley’s Extra Peppermint, contain something called xylitol.

❗ Xylitol is dangerous to dogs

❗ It can cause low blood sugar

❗ It can cause liver failure

❗ And in some dogs, can even cause blockages

Both girls are thankfully fine now.

But my word… these two are keeping me on my toes this week! 🐶🔥🧡

🎄 Surviving Christmas with a Beagle (Without Losing Your Mind 😅)

This is the time it starts… decorations going up, routines changing, and beagles already showing signs of chaos before Christmas even arrives!

Decorations get chewed, guests get jumped on, and those smells send their noses into overdrive 😅

I’ve opened a few private Beagle Reset call slots to help you calm things down fast and bring peace back.

We’ll focus on:
🐾 Barking, jumping and excitement when guests arrive
🐾 Scavenging and food obsession during meals
🐾 Guarding or tension around food and toys
🐾 Getting guests (and family!) to follow your calm plan

Beagles need 80–100 calm repetitions before new habits stick — so starting now makes Christmas a whole lot easier 💛

It’s a relaxed one-to-one chat with me (no beagle needed on camera).
