When chickens get mites, it’s more than just a little itch — it can quickly become a serious problem. Tiny red mites hide in the coop during the day and come out at night to bite chickens while they sleep. Over time, the hens can become weak, stressed, and stop laying eggs. Some may even become very ill.

Farmer Ellie noticed her favourite hen, Daisy, looking tired and pale. Daisy no longer rushed to the gate each morning and spent most of her day hiding in the corner of the coop. After checking the perches and nesting boxes, Ellie discovered hundreds of tiny red mites crawling in the cracks of the wood.

Instead of ignoring the problem, Ellie acted fast. She cleaned the coop thoroughly, treated the chickens carefully, and used red mite powder and spray to stop the infestation. Within days, Daisy and the other hens became more active, their feathers looked healthier, and the coop was peaceful again.
